Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo - Sickbay
Timeline: MD 92 - 09.00 hours

After opening the door to her quarters Jaana let out a small scream upon seeing a targ approach her. "I'll be damn." She quickly dropped her back in the room and hurried out of there. First stop, finding her sister. She hadn't told Tuula she was coming back on board. Or about the changes she made to her appearance. With her hair, now black of color, hanging loose and still in her civilian clothes she walked through the corridor of the ship. The familiar hum made her feel glad to be back. She entered her sister's workplace and looked around. She saw some familiar faces, as well as some looking really odd at her. Was it because she looked like her sister even more, now they had the same hair color? She put that thought aside and went looking for Tuula.

Returning to her office, Tuula saw a woman with her back to her, examining Allyndra's model of a spinal column for her research. She didn't recognize the patient, but knew she shouldn't be in her office unattended. "Excuse me, miss..." she called out, getting her attention.

The moment the mysterious stranger turned, Tuula's jaw dropped. Her hair, her clothes... everything was different about her. But there was only one person this could be. "Jaana!" she exclaimed, pushing herself towards her sister almost fast enough to knock her over and wrapping her arms around her waist. "I missed you..." she said, hugging her sister tightly, "your hair... You look great..."

"I missed you too" Jaana said as she ended the hug. "I thought this was a good time for something different. Do I see purple in yours?"

"Yes," replied Tuula, brushing some black and purple hair aside to reveal a shaved area on the left side of her head. "I just recolored it yesterday. I was rocking the mohawk on Akkadia, and I'm thinking of getting a tattoo here. I want something bright and happy, like a spider web or some bats or something..."

Trailing off, Tuula looked up at her sister. It was Jaana all right, but she was like a totally different person. Even the way she moved, the way she talked, she was confident, self-assured, and looking great. "Enough about me. How are you? I take it the program..."

"Yes, it's finished. They thought I was progressed enough to catch the Gally before she left the solar system. I didn't sign myself out, if that's what you're wondering." She said with a grin, remembering how much hatred she had at going there at first.

"That's great," replied Tuula, relieved to hear that her sister was doing better. "So, if you're back, I guess you'll be needing another boarding physical? Why don't you find a comfortable biobed and I can get started."

"To be honest, I was hoping with all the physicals I underwent the last months I wouldn't need one." she said as she climbed upon the biobed. "By the way, what is that thing in our quarters. I didn't even make it into our quarters with that thing running at me."

"Just one quick scan," said Tuula, following her sister towards the biobed. Reaching into her little black bag, she whipped out her favourite medical tricorder and began scanning her sister. "Oh, you probably mean Snuffles," she added. "I'm targ-sitting for the Admiral. Isn't he cute?"

"You call that cute??" She sighed. "First Gilbert, now that monster. Have you forgotten I'm not a fan of animals?"

"Monster?!" gasped Tuula, shocked at Jaana's reaction. "He's a majestic creature! Don't you remember the old Toby the Targ holo-programs? Was Toby a monster? Anyways, Snuffles is actually very well-behaved once you get to know him. You should see how quickly he can devour a steak. Besides," she added, continuing her scan, "he'll only be staying with us for a few more days."

"Great," she said with a sigh. "Besides, you were the one with a crush on Toby, not me." She smiled. "You would watch that show every moment you could, and wouldn't even leave the house without your Toby doll."

Tuula blushed at the mention of Toby. Between him and Karhu the bear, she held onto her stuffed animals until she was twelve. Of course, by that time, they were nearly falling apart, not only from her carrying them around and sleeping with them, but also from her playing doctor or veterinarian. With numerous stuffing transplants and an eye replacement, it was on her stuffed animals that Tuula first learned to perform surgery.

"Well," replied Tuula as she closed the tricorder, "aside from an attitude problem, it looks like you're in better health than when you left." Tuula smiled up at her sister. "I get off at 17:00, if you want to go for a drink after work? I'm sure you have your research to get caught up on..."

"Thank to modern science all the damage I did to myself is gone. As for my research, I'm done with that, for the moment." she said while trying to remember if she'd said that already or not. "I submitted my dissertation last week. I should hear back in a few weeks."

"Yay!" exclaimed Tuula, waving her arms with joy. "Dr. Jaana Voutilainen," she said, trying it out on the tongue. "I like the sound of that."

"Me too," she said with a curved smile.

Tuula just smiled at her sister. "Well, let's celebrate! I hear there's a nice tiki themed bar on deck six of the station... with your new look, I'm sure you'll be swarmed with eligible guys."

Jaana laughed at the invite. She wanted to say no, but she didn't. She needed to get out more.

"It's settled then," replied Tuula, "The Rum Barrel at 17:30. And do me a favour and replicate Snuffles a steak. He likes it raw."
