Leading Markum by the hand, or more so dragging him by the hand, Drusilla glanced into every room which they passed until she found an empty one. The hall was very empty, most of the station people were gathered in the auditorium which the couple had just left.

"What were you thinking?!?" As she pulled him into the room, Dru pushed her fingers over her hair, working part of her bun loose as she just looked at Markum. "You just stood up infront of quater of a million people and said...you said..." Unable to say the words, the counsellor pulled her hand down over her face.

Quinn just grinned and shrugged his shoulders as he brushed a loose strand of hair to the side. "What? I don't care if the creator almighty was standing there or, Thumbelina. I love you, Dru. Truth is, ever since the fair program, I have loved you, but I was too intimidated by your beauty and age. I never thought someone so intelligent, and beautiful, would even waste their time on an old fart like me. I don't regret what I did, hell, most of those people we will never see and they can all kiss my ass if I offended them. My only regret was not kissing you while on the Ferris Wheel, and telling you how I felt back then. So if you want to be pissy, be pissy, but I still love you, Dru. I'm just sorry it took me so long to tell you."

Dru pushed her fingers back through her hair as she knocked the pins out and allowed it to follow loose down over her shoulders. As she turned her back on Markum, just needing a minute, the counsellor felt her eyes already beginning to well. It was easier to blame it on pregnancy hormones than admitting that his words had struck her harder than she could have ever anticipated.

Part of her felt mad, if he's have told her maybe she'd never be where she was now; pregnant with a baby whod was conceived from rape and whom she still wasn't sure she could be a mother too.

But then another part just felt sadness...sadness for all of the lost time they could have had together. Both had other people in their lives and Markum had a daughter now too but the counsellor couldn't help but wonder how life would be different if they'd been a couple for years rather than months.

"For the third time ever I almost lost you from my life. The first time to when you met Tarish...the second time when I had the clot in my brain, waking to find you married with a child. The third time...the third time when you'd been in my arms but I wasn't strong enough to keep you safe from the enemy."

A hand moved to her eyes, brushing away the tears as Dru continued to try and control her tears, "I don't know if I can take loosing you again."

Quinn placed a hand on her shoulder. "Dru, the passion is in the poison, sweetheart. It's the risk we take every time we board Gali. It's what we do, what we are meant to do. i don't want to lose you either, but the possibility is very real it may happen, and because of that, I can promise you that I will love you as if everyday will be our last day together. I accept the risks for what they are, I know that as part of the comand team, I may one day not only order someone to their death, I may have to make the sacrifice my self to save not only you and the baby, and John and Lirha, but for everyone aboard our home. That's how I lost my arm, I did what needed to be done. I had no desire to die, but someone had to do it, so I did it."

Quinn took a deep breath then continued. "I can't promise you that I won't die or be killed or choke on your meatloaf, but I can promise you that I will love you deeper and stronger than you have ever been loved as long as we both are together. It's all I have to give, it's the most precious thing I can give. The question is Dru, will you take it?"

"Markum...I..." As she tried to explain how scared she felt, Dru struggled to control a sudden gasp as her hand flew to her abdomen where her baby lay. The child had kicked out, stronger than she'd ever felt before and again over and over before her vison went black. The last thing she remembered was Markum calling her name before feeling like her body was falling before the darkness engulfed her.

"Dru...Drusilla...come on sleepy head, if you don't wake now the kids are going to barge into the room and then you'll have no choice."

As the woman struggled to open her eyes, a smile spread over her lips as she reached out to the familiar but yet strange voice that she heard. "And why pre-tell do you want me awake..."

A deep tomber laugh echoed through her mind as a face began to come into focus, one which she knew so well but yet was different.

"I want to have you too myself, even if it's just for a few seconds before life as we know it barges in here in a hurricane and takes you away again."

She felt his soft lips press against hers, his mechanical hand moved to ever so gently cradle her hip. The moment could have gone on forever, two lovers lost in the most intimate of kisses but instead a voice screamed out.

"Tyra!!!!! They are at it again!!!!"

Drusilla felt rather than heard the deep rumble of laughter in her man's chest, an echoing smile passing over her lips before she turned her head to see who stood there.

The young child was different to what you'd expect...her pale skin had an almost grey pallor to it. Her crystal blue eyes twinkled with a light that showed her innocence and youth as the features etched on her skin showed her to be not quite human but something else.

A second rumbling laugh could be heard as two further people moved to the doorway. "Mo dheirfiur...did I not tell you to allow them ten minutes more?"

"Ye sis!!! Marcus's said ten minutes more!!!" The second girl was a contrast to the other. Her >insert> hair hinted to who her father was but it was the hazel eyes that gave it away. Those eyes so alike her father's...the man Drusilla loved.

"Humph! Your a suck up Tyra...do this do that..."

The counsellor looked back up to her lover as the rumble of laughter in the chest of the man holding her grew even louder. His eyes met hers, not even the wink could hide the depth of the love he had for her and his family, so deeply evident in the depths of his orbs.

"If you give us ten more minutes, I'll bring you to the fair today. Show you were I first met your Mum all those years ago today."

As shouts of happiness echoed through the room, there was an almost stampede as blurs of light replaced the running girls. Leaning over, the younger man threw the couple a wink. "I did promise to practice my Irish...now I'd suggest that you both hurry up as I'm not quite sure for how long more I can contain these two. Theyd give even my medical staff a run for their money." With a laugh the man activated the closure of the couple's bedroom door, shutting them off from the world outside.

"And to think...we are soon going to be adding to the brood..."

Drusilla felt the man's hand press against her extended abdomen before she felt the tender touch of his lips against hers...just before the world went blank again...

Groaning a little as she struggled against the darkness, Drusilla heard Markum's voice; the urgency and fear so clear and evident to anyone listening. "Mo ghra..." The words croaked out weakly as she forced her eyes back open and tried to understand what had just happened.

Quinn gave a little shake to Dru. He could see she was coming out of some sort of trance. Once her eyes opened he smiled down at her and he held her head in his hand while her legs were scooped up under his other arm. "There ya are, I know the thought of being with me can be overwhelming. It's the new hair cut isn't it?"

As awareness seeped back in and Dru realised that whatever had just happened was gone again, the counsellor buried her face in against the side of Markum's neck as she pushed back on the tears. The love that she felt for him was almost overwhelming and the...dream? she just had made her ache for what they could have. "I haven't got a choice...even if I wanted to, I can't turn away from you. Somehow you've gotten under my skin and my future is nothing without you in it."

Quinn held her close and kissed her forehead. "I promise you, I will probably always be under that pretty skin of yours.' wiping a tear away, Markum kissed Dru's cheek. I'm not going anywhere, not anytime soon."

Dru managed a small laugh at his words as she pushed her face further in against the side of his neck. She felt safe in this moment...more safe than she had ever been before in her life, just being held by Markum in his arms. She felt like together they could do this...make them work. "I must be crazy...stark raving crazy....There's no other reason that I can love you as much as I do."

Quinn placed a hand upon Dru's hair and lightly ran his fingers through the back of her hair. "Funny, my mom says the same thing about me still. Just wait until you get to meet that piece of work. Imagine me, at ninety something."

Dru closed her eyes as she pressed her face back in against Markum's chest and swallowed against the feeling of being overwhelmed. "One step at a time right...maybe we can manage something while the symposium is still on? I'm sure I could manage a day or two of leave....I haven't been away from the ship since we got back from the alternative universe....I didn't want to leave you on your own."

"Sounds great. Nothing more freeing than a motorcycle ride in the country," replied Markum, "and a promise is a promise." Quinn held her close and enjoyed this moment of just the two of them.

This felt right...but even more then that...this felt normal. It felt the way that life should be, two people completely and utterly engrossed and in love with the other. What she felt for Markum was nothing like what Dru had ever felt for others before.

Maybe it was their history, maybe it was the year and a half time they'd spent away from the others company, maybe it was because she almost lost him or...maybe...just maybe, it was because this was love in its truest of forms. Maybe, just maybe, this was what they both spent living their lives for prior to this...so as to find and love the other.

Even as she sorted through her thoughts, Dru felt where the baby within her abdomen shifted under where Markum had placed his hand. It was almost like a dig in the ribs, an almost see! I told you so. The counsellor smiled at the thought, realising that perhaps this child would be more like the father who adopted her than anyone else.

"I love you..." Although the words still felt foreign, Dru lifted her head as she looked into the depths of her soul mates eyes. One hand moved to gently cup his cheek as the other moved to cup the hand rested above their child. "I love you Command Master Chief Markum Tyrannus Quinn."

Quinn melted as he heard Dru's words and felt her touch upon him, along with faint flutters from the child growing within Dru's body. "I love you, too, Lieutenant Junior Grade Drusilla Serena McCarthy." His innocent grin turned to one of mischievousness, "Wanna go home and fool around?" Markum softly kissed Dru's warm lips, while gently using his free hand to brush his fingers across her cheek and neck.

Dru laughed against Markum's lips as her hand moved to intercept his, entwining their fingers before he could get anymore playful.

For just a few moments she enjoyed the kiss, the taste of his lips as her tongue playfully teased his before pulling back. "Mo ghra..." The woman placed her forehead against his as her hand squeezed her love's fingers. A twinkle alit her eyes as she teased him playfully. "Has medical signed you off as fit for that yet?"

"I'm good as new, or as I'm going to get." he added with a smirk and a nibble on one of her hands. "C'mon Counselor, I've been naughty and need my therapy." Quinn stood up, still holding Dru in his arms.

Dru instinctively grabbed onto Markum's jacket as the weight of her body and the baby caused a momentary vertigo feeling before managing to settle. She looked at him as if he'd lost his mind. "You are not carrying me back to the ship! Markum!"

As he moved forward, Dru felt Markum pause as his legs wobbled before he got his footing back under him. Moving forward again, the counsellor buried her face in his shoulder as she realised that it was the man's intent to carry her all of the way. "I'll show you bloody therapy when we are in our room Markum Quinn...you'll regret this."

"There ya go again," Quinn replied playfully while walking easier as he adjusted to let his cybernetic arm take the bulk of the weight, "promising me with a good time. You know how I like it, baby." he added with a smile and kiss on Dru's nose.

Dru wrinkled her nose before pressing her face in against Markum's shoulder to hide the smile on her lips. "You realise that you've a long walk ahead of you, if you insist on carry me the whole way I'll describe in great detail every small tiny thing I'm going to do to get payback from this...every little detail Markum..."

Quinn shrugged his shoulders some. "Sounds kinky, I'm in."

Playfully the counsellor slapped Markum in the shoulder before shifting her body a little so as she could whisper in his ear, "So...remember that night where...."
