Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: Starbase 84
Timeline: MD11 - early afternoon

ON:

[Starbase 84]

Working her way through the bustle of Starbase 84, Eva finally found her way to the childcare center where the children of Galileo crew were being cared for. Eva smiled at Min & Jared who were just leaving after having picked up their daughter. Tears were evident in both parent's eyes as they held their daughter.

Going in, Eva smiled at the lady at the front desk. "Eva Mercy. I'm here to pickup my children?"

The young lady looked up the children on her computer. Noting the flag put on the children's file, she nodded. "If you want to come this way Mrs Mercy, I'll show you where they are."

Eva followed the young lady into the center. Almost immediately she recognized the the children who were busy chatting with the EBH and an older Vulcan woman. She made her way over slowly, stopping when she reached the group. "Raven?" she asked.

A wide smile appeared on Raven's face as she recognized the Galileo crew. "Eva?" she asked, overjoyed on the children's behalf.

Seeing their father's new wife, Revan stood and raced towards her. "Mother," he sniffed, wrapping his arms around her. He was soon followed by the more stoic Delon, with Laura running over last.

"Mommy," the little girl cried, "please don't leave us again?" She was young enough to barely remember her first mother and really only knew Eva to be it.

Eva knelt, holding her adoptive daughter as tears began streaming down her face. "I won't sweetie. I promise." She placed an arm around Revan, knowing Delon was reacting in his own fashion.

From a slight distance away, T'Val studied the group, but didn't approach. She felt the children needed a moment alone with their stepmother, before she would intervene.

Eva looked up at Raven, tears evident on her face. Silently she mouthed the words "Thank you."

Raven just hung back while the children embraced Eva, and wiped away her holographic tears of joy. "No," she said, "thank you. The children were so wonderful, and they helped me deal with thinking I had lost the closest thing to a family that I had."

Eva just nodded, unsure what to say to Raven. She'd never encountered an emotional program before. "We have our families back. That is what matters." Eva finally managed.

Eva held the kids a bit longer, noticing that the elder Vulcan women remained at a distance. She made eye contact with the woman, giving her a little nod, hoping she'd understand it was okay to approach her.

T'Val approached, though she didn't want to disturb the moment the young woman had with the children. "You must be Eva," she said softly, keeping just a slight distance.

"I am." Eva stood, reluctantly letting go of the children. "And you must be T'Val, the children's grandmother." She paused. "I am sorry if I did not introduce myself earlier. I was not aware you were looking after the children in our absence."

"I was not," T'Val assured her, gesturing to Raven. "She was doing a marvellous job and I was not intending to take anything away from her. I am their grandmother, not their mother. Raven was their assigned caretaker."

Eva nodded. "In any event, I am glad we finally meet. Naois speaks very highly of you." She paused, blushing a little. "I hope I am what you expected?"

"I had no expectations," T'Val answered mildly, "my son is his own person, as long as he is happy, that is what matters to me. Is he happy?"

"He worries about me and our unborn children, but besides that he appears to be so, Yes." Eva responded. She was still unsure of her relationship to Naois' family, given the rather unusual fashion by which she joined them. "However, He is presently in the hospital however, having suffered some injuries during our disappearance."

A worried frown crossed the Vulcan woman's handsome features. "hospital?" Her brow furrowed into a solid V. "What kind of injuries?"

"I do not know the exact extent but the injury to his hand is severe, requiring a cybernetic replacement. I was planning to take the children to see Naois as he is currently resting and wished to see them. You are of course welcome to join us."

"I will see him later, in private," the woman promised, "please take the children to their father, they have been anxious to see him." She wondered why she'd not been informed regarding her son's injuries but she reasoned that perhaps there'd not been time to do so.

Eva nodded. "When we have time T'Val, I would enjoy a conversation with you, just the two of us. I'm sure we both have questions."

"Eva...what is between you and my son, how this came to be, is not my affair. I can see that you care for him, and that is all that matters to me. He will be a good husband to you, and a good father to your children. I am only happy to see him happy again. He was alone for so long....after Valeia died."

Vulcans could be an interesting species, and Eva found herself torn between wanting to press the issue, and letting it be if that is what she wished. "I will not press you T'Val. It is a human desire to get to know one's mother in law better, and her you."

"Vulcans are very private," T'Val replied, somewhat flatly, "perhaps we will meet later. For now, my son needs his family."

Eva nodded. "Perhaps later." Turning back to the children, Eva smiled at them. "Your father is expecting us."
