Even grumpier after his counseling session, than he had been before, and feeling somewhat hungry now, Tyrion stalked into sickbay. His whole being just indicated he really didn't want to be here, but that he wanted to get this over with as soon as possible.

His black eyes scanned the area before finally walking up to a woman who appeared to be wheelchair bound. He gritted his teeth as he lightly tapped her shoulder, when her back was turned to him. "Doctor..." He hesitated briefly. "Ensign Tyrion Faye, reporting as ordered."

"Ah, you're here for your medical," replied Tuula, pivoting in place to greet the intelligence officer. "Dr. Tuula Voutilainen," she added, offering Tyrion a handshake.

Tyrion jumped as she pivoted around, almost afraid she might ride over his toes. Hesitantly, he offered her his hand. "Yes ma'am," he answered, "as ordered ma'am. Can we..hurry?" It didn't take a telepath to notice he would rather be elsewhere.

"I'm going to take as long as it requires to give you a clean bill of health," replied Tuula. A patient asking her to hurry up didn't make a physical go faster, and could actually make it take longer. "Sit down on that biobed while I pull up your medical file."

The Betazoid headed over to the indicated bed and sat down on it. "Barring some time spent in sickbay a few months ago, it's probably going to be a quick read," he pointed out, "I'm never sick. I don't have any allergies that I'm aware of, and I actually feel great."

"Fair enough," replied Tuula as she retrieved a PADD from her office. As she started reading it, something very interesting appeared in his medical records. Apparently at one point, Tyrion had been captured by the Romulans. There were some physical injuries, but more interestingly, he had reported blacking out and not remembering a couple of days. It could very well be that he simply blocked out his experiences in captivity, or he could have been subjected to something physiological. Regardless, Tuula had to be thorough.

"So, Ensign," she said as she made her way back towards him and pulled out a medical tricorder. "You're sure you haven't had any illnesses or injuries recently?"

"No illness," Tyrion assured her, "though I spent a few hours in sickbay after being attacked in a science lab." His somewhat good mood took a deep dip. "When my lover was killed. I don't really remember all of it, it all happened so fast. They were minor..." He recalled having warded the attacker off, and having sustained some cuts on his hands, and a minor abdominal wound. Memory on the incident was vague, and he told her what he remembered. "Like I said, I'm never sick....and aside from that memory problem, I really do feel great at the moment. Physically anyway."

"Okay," said Tuula as she scanned him further. "Can you tell me any more about this memory problem? Did you black out?"

"I must have," the Betazoid reluctantly admitted, "I don't really remember much of the event. I remember going to visit Tyrek, wanting to ask him out for dinner later that day. I also remember talking to him, and the next memory I can recall is holding him in my arms, discovering he's gone." Tears started to well up at this memory. "I still miss him.." His voice dropped to a broken whisper and he looked down at his hands. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to go all soppy on you here, it's just..." He sighed. "I loved him."

"I'm sorry," said Tuula, regretting having brought back these memories in him. Silently, she finished her tricorder scan of the patient. "Well, you appear to be in good physical condition. But given what you've said about memory loss, I'd like to run a detailed scan of your cerebral cortex. If you'll just lie down here," she said, adjusting the pillow of the biobed for him, "I'll get the scanner."

Tyrion laid himself down on the bed, his body tense. He fixed his eyes on the ceiling, his hands folded over his chest though his white knuckles showed how tense he was. "I don't like brain scans," he murmured nervously, "it feels like a privacy invasion."

"Don't worry, I'm a doctor," replied Tuula as she retrieved a cortical scanner from a cabinet containing all sorts of fancy doodads. "I take doctor-patient confidentiality very seriously." She placed the device on Tyrion's forehead. "Now, if you'll just lay still for about 15 minutes, we'll get a nice thorough look at what's going on inside that head of yours."

"I'll try." He didn't fancy having to repeat it because he moved. "I'll just count the dots on the ceiling," he added humourlessly. "What will this scan do, exactly?"

"First, it's going to take a detailed scan of your brain tissue for any evidence of brain damage." Tuula adjusted a couple knobs on the device, getting the scan wavelengths just right, before pressing a button to activate it. "Then, it's going to read your brain waves and neural activity levels across your cerebral cortex for any abnormalities."

"And what happens if there are abnormalities?" Tyrion asked slowly, not really liking this at all. What if they did find something wrong, what then? "What does it mean if you find something abnormal?"

"That all depends on what we find."
