Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 4, Sickbay
Timeline: MD 01 - 2015 hrs

Previously.....

Resting her hand on Lirha's arm, Pola squeezed gently before pulling away to give her some personal space. "It's alright. Sickbay attracts nervy patients so Ive had worse from others. Your here for abit longer, would you like me to just give you sometime to yourself? I can check over the scans elsewhere and it'd give you a tiny bit of alone time. Or if you'd rather not be alone, I can stay."

"No, I don't mind." the Orion answered with a slight shake of her head. "In fact, I would prefer some company. I don't often get the chance to spend time with my crew and socialize, so it's a welcome change. And...it's good to get my head out of my desk's console every now and again." she added with a grin.

And now....

As the scans finished up, Pola gently lifted the module away, placing it out of the way to one side before she moved back across to programme the bio bed to a reclining position so as Lirha was seated slightly more up right. "There you go, that should be more comfortable. How about we stay away from work? We've never really managed to talk outside of work in all of these weeks."

"No, we haven't." Lirha agreed somewhat solemnly. It was a shame that she didn't get to interact with her crew on as often as she'd like, but such was usually the case with busy Starfleet captains. Leaning back into the biobed, Lirha noticed that the more upright nature of the mattress was definitely more comfortable. "I think the last time I saw you was for your promotion...how have you been adjusting in the meantime?" she politely asked. "Made any new friends? A boyfriend perhaps? I've heard the rumors about you and Chief Kiwosk..."

Unbeknownst to her, Pola's cheeks turned a very faint shade of red as she attempted to clear her throat. "Um...yes..." Moving a hand across her hair, she smiled softly at the Captain. "I guess you could say that myself and Mr. Kiwosk are involved. We are trying our best to keep it completely outside of our duties and not let it interfere though Ma'am."

Lirha returned the smile with one of her own. "Well you are a grown woman and I have no doubt that you will be able to properly manage your personal life." she replied, "...Unlike some of the other crew members..." she muttered, thinking back to the graphic security feed of Ansen Pawlak and Ensign Nicholas in the mess hall.

Moving her body, Pola angled the biobed screen to face her but kept her body turned towards the Captain. "Sounds like there's a story behind there...Only question being, do I want to know?"

"No. You probably don't." Lirha answered with a light chuckle. "Let's just say it was not one of Galileo's finer moments." she added, declining to elaborate on the recent inappropriate behavior by two of her crew.

"You know what I notice more and more..." Pola kept her concentration on the images infront of her as she magnified various areas and made notes on the PADD at her side. "Despite being the centre of the ship, outside of the lounge, I don't get much gossip in here. Even with Cyrus...as a security officer he knows a lot but he respects the privacy of others. One of the many attributes I like about him I guess."

Lirha sighed again as her thoughts drifted back to Maenad, wondering why she couldn't have a healthy relationship with the science chief like Pola was having with the young warrant officer. "I have not spoken to him often, but from what I hear, he seems like a well-grounded individual. You two seem to enjoy each other's company, from what I hear...I'm jealous." she said quietly.

Frowning slightly Pola looked away once again from her PADDs as she felt the beginnings of a headache in her temple. "Hum...well...I guess it was just right." Self consciously, she tucked a piece of loose hair behind her ear. "I haven't been with anyone in a very long time, I guess perhaps the moment was right for both of us."

"Well, I wish you two the best. Unfortunately I have not been quite as lucky with my own relationships, but...there's still plenty of time, I suppose." she answered with a light-hearted shrug.

Smiling slightly at the comment, Pola gently squeezed Lirha's arm before turning her attention back to the scans. "Well the good news is that you are healing well. There is still some residual damage in your hip and shoulder but gradually over time your body will continue to fix this."

Inside her chest, Lirha's heart slightly relaxed from the previous apprehension of the scanning procedure. She was grateful to hear that her body's joints and extremities were healing well, yet was still curious about her mental state. "That is good news." she agreed, "But...how is my cerebral chemistry? Will I be able to resume my pheromone suppressants?" she asked with hopefulness in her voice and a slight bit of anxiety.

"Well..." Bringing up a scan of the woman's brain, Pola analysed the list of chemicals which it had managed to identify. "The viral agent which the Klingon's had introduced to your system seems to have decipitated from your system. Because we still don't fully understand what it was, I would prefer that we start you back on a low dose of the pheromone suppressant and after a few days we can increase it as long as there has been no side effects."

With a bit of sadness, Lirha sighed to herself. "A few days...?" she wondered out loud, hoping for a more detailed explanation. She was really hoping that she could get her hormonal issues taken care of right away, and didn't necessarily want to wait any longer. But...if her chief medical officer decided otherwise, then she would have to make due. And afterall, a low dose was better than nothing.

"Last time the suppressant was in your system it almost killed you. Its interaction with the foreign virus was breaking down your system. Despite no evidence showing up in the scans of the virus, we don't know what lingering effects it may have had. Putting you back on the suppressant immediately, instead of gradually, could cause irreparable damage." Watching the Captain carefully, Pola could understand the woman's own concerns but there was too much at risk here to rush things too fast.

Lirha let out a soft breath and sunk deeper into the biobed's mattress when she heard the doctor's recommendation. "Very well." she said softly.

Taking note of the woman's body language, showing how she wasn't happy, Pola knew that there was nothing more she could do, she had to look at the overall picture of the Cpatain's health and for this she couldn't take any risks.

Leaving the Lirha for a moment, Pola retrieved a hypo and vial which she had left her side. Programming the hypo to administrate a weaker than usual dosage, the Doctor placing it against the woman's neck. "That is you good to go. Just ensure that you come back to me in a few days, or if you start to experience any side effects."

Reaching up with her green hand, the Orion absentmindedly rubbed the side of her neck where the tiny needle had injected her. She promptly sat up and hopped off the biobed, then gave an appreciative nod to the doctor. "I won't forget." she replied, then giving the blue-collared woman a tiny smile before heading towards the door and out of sickbay. "It was good talking to you Pola...and I hope things continue to go well between you and Mister Kiwosk." she added over he shoulder, then stepped through the gray doors with a swish and out into the corridor.
