Personal Log, stardate 67569.5.

Still nothing to report from the Tholian border. Long range sensors haven’t detected anything unusual with the exception of an Andorian cargo ship who had slightly deviated from their flight plan. While close to the border, they never did cross. Investigation revealed nothing of note. Whatever heightened activity Starfleet Intelligence believed it spotted must have been over with before we even got here.

Orders require us to stay for at another three weeks, at which point if everything goes well, my crew and I will get to take our first long term shore leave since I took command. It will do everyone some good to finally get more than a few days rest. I was thinking I would be very uninventive and hit the Risian beaches.

In the meantime, Astrometrics is having a field day, as these systems aren’t updated often due to their proximity to the Tholians. I do believe I heard something about Lieutenant Dexter jumping around and handing out candy to everyone. Heh! Everyone else is making themselves busy running emergency drills and combat simulations. We must have nine under our belt now. If Commander Melbourne asks permission to run another, I think I’ll stuff her mouth with my sock as an answer. . . Ok, so I won’t, but the visual should help fight the urge to tell her to stuff it.

Ensign Tarika and Crewman Cutler have gotten engaged. They should be tying the knot during shore leave. Master Chief Petty Officer Lindgarden assures me he will keep them in line until then.
Whatever that means. Hehe.

On somewhat more personal news, if one can call it that, it’s been nearly a week since the Galileo’s disappearance. The brass is keeping it all hush hush for the moment, but my sources tell me they vanished during the war games at Chi’Dan. Klingons have been very quiet since the incident. One would wonder if they had anything to do with it. I was … assured that the best investigative units were on the task. . .
