Captain's Personal Log,

The reports coming back from the planet's surface are more than concerning - it seems that my teams have been encountering what many are only able to describe as ghosts.

Ghosts? On a mining planet? What the hell is going on? Never in my life have I even had to read such a report, let alone try to make one to Starfleet myself. Whatever these ghosts are, they are slowly but surely eliminating the population down there - it seems these mining accidents may be linked to the events that my crew encountered.

I am torn - on the one hand it would make sense to send further teams with more equipment to better investigate, but on the other, how do I justify sending my people into a possibly hazardous environment with no way of ensuring their safety? There simply isn't a regulation in the book to deal with ghosts, spirits, mystical beings, or whatever else these supposed events are.

All I know is that they certainly aren't mere hallucinations or chemical induced delusions that were suspected before - I don't know any drugs that can make a Cardassian disappear halfway through a wall.

I will have to consult with the Commodore - I just hope that her experience lends something to the mission - because I am quickly running out of options.

End Log.
