"Personal log, Ensign Matthew Plumeri, science officer and historian. Stardate 68088.4. It has been an amazing couple of weeks here on Earth! Being able to have first crack at the ton of information that the crew of the Galileo collected has been a rare privilege. I am grateful for the opportunity and I am sure that if the Commodore had not notified my CO of the opportunity; I wouldn't be here today. It will take a while longer to understand all of the data but from what I can tell, this is an area that Starfleet will want to come back to many times.

On the fun side of things, I am definitely enjoying my down time. The crew of the Gally have been most generous and invited me to many of their shoreleave activities. And that has been very fun. I really enjoyed going reef diving with some friends the first week. The circus with Abbey Mae...whew! What a hottie she is. I didn't cut mustard with her but...someone will. He'll be a lucky guy when that happens. That was all at the circus. That was a fun night! I haven't been to the circus in ages and it was an awesome time. Everything about it was just perfect. Even the weather in New Sunnyvale.

I met Dr. Mott. Yes! The Doctor Olsom Mott and we actually went to the holodeck together for one of the historical recreations programs. It was so much fun. We played Andorians during the Vulcan/Andorian struggle. And...if we had been there during the real, actual battle...things would have gone much better for the Andorians. I am sure of it. But...hindsight is always 20/20 as they say.

In a couple of days. I'll be finally...finally going to see Rigel VII, the Orion homeworld and I am so stoked!! I have wanted to visit Rigel VII ever since I was a kid and learned about the Orion people. Just to be there...and feel the beach sand under my feet...will be a thrill. That alone is worth the visit. Going with the Commodore and company? Is all icing on the cake. I can't hardly wait.

This whole trip to Earth, almost makes up for the whole shuttle voyage to get here.

Almost."
