"First officer's log. Recorded somewhere in an ocean and far away from sunlight and air.

I have tried to keep up a brave face, but it is beginning to worry me that the ship cannot come to our rescue or hasn't heard our calls.

Most likely they have sensed the collapse of the base, determined no survivors and have warped away.

I wonder if the funeral services were nice?

It sure would have been nice to see the stars once again.
