"Our first encounter with this world has undoubtedly been an interesting one. We encountered, or instead beamed aboard, a piece of a rather aggressive lifeform.

Currently, the captain and some of the crew are attempting to deal with that. I am on the bridge, and so far we've had no contact with the base. I'm unsure whether they're ignoring us or if something has gone terribly wrong.

We are going to launch a probe, but to help cover the launch if someone is keeping track, I've ordered the ship to dip slightly into the atmosphere.

I hope all goes well.
