"The Tears of Pa’hole
It is said that at one time, there was much more to Akkadia than the scattered islands. It goes like this. All of Akkadia once had larger lands covered with lush forests that extended horizon to horizon instead of the few islands that exist today. The goddess Malina had a beautiful daughter who lived and attended the forest, the flowers, and all the things that dwelt therein. She was so beautiful that all the other gods lusted after her, and many tried to win her hand, but she did not favor any of them. One god, Polelyna, the god of the caves, didn’t take the rejection favorably and, instead of accepting the rejection of his affections, decided to kidnap Malina's daughter Pa’hole.
Night after night he would creep from his caves and search for her. Then, one night, he found her sleeping very close to one of his caves. He captured her and took her away into the caves of darkness, which was his domain. Malina could do nothing as she was powerless where the light of the Twins did not shine. So she began to cry, and she cried and cried, and slowly, the land became flooded. The waters rose and rose until a great sea stretched across the face of Allidia. Eventually, the waters flooded into the caves, where dwelt Polelyna and his captured bride Pa’hole. The waters rose until they covered all the world, and they crept further into the deep caverns. Finally, Polelyna fled even deeper letting Pa’hole go and she returned to the surface and was reunited with her mother.
“Oh Mother what have you done?” She cried as she beheld the great ocean stretching now from horizon to horizon where before there had only been forest. "What have you done? Where is the beautiful land and what has happened to the creatures that roamed them? All lost now beneath the sea." Pa’hole herself began to cry, but her tears were of fire and living rock. Wherever a tear fell, a new island was born.
Malina shook her head, "Daughter, all is not lost. For those that roamed the land I have
given them fins and gills, or wings to bear them above the waters. I have saved the seeds from the lost land.
Pa’hole planted the seeds, and in the rich soil of the new islands, they flourished, and
flowers burst forth in color and perfume. The creatures once more settled from the air back to the islands and thrived. She was happy, but sometimes, she remembered the old, and again, her tears would flow, and from them, a new island would be born.
