Well, it is just one more week before we leave Deep Space Six, the place I've called home for the past three or so years. It's the only home I've known other than my home world and I guess I've become resigned to the fact. There is nothing I can do about it anyway, it's out of my control. It still sucks though.

I hate Orions. Okay, of course, I don't. Ren is an Orion and my best friend. So most Orions are okay. But three days ago, there was this huge fight between the Orions from the Gazon and Security. Hell between those Orions and about half of Deep Space Six (it's a small station). There were phasers and swords and it was really dangerous from what I heard. It would have been interesting to be there. I know I shouldn't say it or think it, but it's true. I am pretty sure that a lot of it was exaggerated, like I said, it's a small station.

The really bad thing is that since that incident, Serran, dad, has laid down the law, so to speak. I have been confined to our cabin or school. That's it. No Molly. No Ren. No holosuite. It wasn't as if I was being punished, though it felt that way. The whole station has been practically shut down. Everyone on board, pretty much, even the adults are going through much the same thing.

The Orions are still here, but things have calmed down, so he permitted me to go out. Technically he just said he thought the worst was over and it might be safe for us to return soon.

But soon is so subjective. Like Serran said I could date soon, and by soon he means twenty years from now. I measure soon a little differently

So when Ren sent me a message on my PADD that he was dropping by and I should change my clothes and get ready to paint the town green. Green, get it? Like he's green Okay, that's probably funnier to us than you. Not sure why adults have such a narrow sense of what's humorous.

I dressed in a pair of pants that may or may not have been a little tight and a shirt, I'd outgrown about six months ago I was a little surprised to see Molly was with him. A part of me, a very small part of me wondered about why they had arrived together, but I quickly set those thoughts of jealousy aside. We were all just good friends. Besides Ren had his choice of girls, he was a good looking guy and quite popular among the girls. He knew I liked Molly, knew we had fooled around, and he wouldn't go after her.

There was this one program in the holosuite that we'd never quite finished. It was about being on a train where people kept dying off. But we didn't go along with the storyline much

Molly and I took the opportunity to make out some in our cabin. Hey, don't judge she started it, or at least she gave her consent pretty damn quick. Ren left us alone, which was a relief, I didn't want an audience. He went up to the dining car where stole some food and then started throwing it at people, well holograms anyway. They just ignored him, which wasn't too different from what real adults did.

We decided to quit after about an hour or so. We were getting bored. Okay, Ren was getting bored and Molly wanted to do it. You know IT I'm not sure I'm ready for ITjust yet. I won't go into detail but there was a lot we had done that I was more an okay. But, for Universe's sake, I'm just fifteen.

Molly was a little miffed and she decided to go home Ren then had the bright idea of ditching the holosuite altogether and going the Broken Earing as you might have guessed it's a Bajoran place. They have food, drink (syntheol), darts and my favorite game dom-jet. (Sometimes they have live music or entertainment but they didn't that night.

I beat him three straight times, but while I am pretty good at the game, I suspect he let me win at least one of those games. Afterward, we both got a glass of raspberry lemonade and took a seat in a corner booth.

"So, who is your favorite, best friend in the world," he teased.

"Serran," I replied just to be a smartass.

"Oh, a daddy's boy I like it," he said.

Leaning over the table he shot me a mischievous smile. "No, really. Who?"

"You of course."

"Who introduced you to Molly."

"Not you. I met her myself in etho-biology."

"She likes you you know."

"I know."

"She'd totally let you fuck her."

I blushed, I admit it, I'm not ashamed Ren was my best friend but he could be a dick sometimes. "I know," I said softly, hoping he'd drop the subject. I should have known better.

"Why haven't you," he asked, "aren't you interested in her?"

"Of course, I'm into her, can we please talk about something else."

"I'm sorry," he said and I think he meant it, or at least I think he thought he was sorry.

"I like you," he said in a quiet voice that I'd seldom heard him voice. It was a serious tone.

"I like you too," I retorted, "you're my bestie, but you're kinda sounding weird."

"You don't know what I mean. You can be pretty dense sometimes. "I like you."

Something in histone caused the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up. "What do you mean?"

He leaned in a little closer about to reply and fill me in on what was going in that head of his when three Orions entered the place.

"Shit, shit, shit," Ren said, "I know that one."

That one was the largest and ugliest of the three. He saw us and started walking toward us.
