Mission: Episode 18 - Regula I
Location: Lt. JG Rafe Caradec's Guest Quarters
Timeline: MD 17, 0922 Hours

[ON]

Rafe entered his guest quarters after eating breakfast in the officer's dining area. He had walked around the station a little to wake up, stretch his legs, meet a few people and get some food. He, and the entire crew, had gone through some unusual circumstances as of late, to say the least. It was good to finally have a little down time to get some rest.

However, he wanted to make the most of the time he had and bring himself up to speed on the specs of Galileo and really find out what that bird could do. He always started with the build logs of the ship. Without fail, he always found information regarding the build of each ship he piloted that was unique, sometimes even affecting the performance of the flight capabilities, and not always in the negative. He remembered when he was going to fly a New Orleans class frigate at Jupiter station, while reading up on it, it showed that while the particular warp drive normally installed produced a top speed of warp 9.3, this one got up to 9.45, and you could tell the difference in the hum.

It was little things like this that Rafe enjoyed doing in relation to his responsibilities. He looked on his list of action items for the day and he saw his note to himself to replicate two more uniforms. The one from Cold Station 18 had seen way better days and the one he was wearing now was getting thread bare. He continued going through the specs and the build logs, followed up by the recent repair logs and the continuing repair logs that were currently underway.

There was no doubt. The ship, for a science vessel, had been through a tough scrape. He looked at the clock and it was already nearing 1400 hours. He got up and decided to take a shower and then replicated himself two new uniforms and putting one in by the shower. He would let the steam soften it up a little. They were always a little stiff when freshly made. He'd better get ready for anything, he though. He new, while at space dock, even though he was on some down time, anything could happen. He donned his fresh uniform noticing the softness of it. Hmmm, new material? If felt good. He affixed the two pips onto his collar and sat down at his table, padds and books strewn across it from his research. He paused, stood up and went to his bedside. The picture of his wife was there, by the one of his sister. How he missed them both.

Starfleet was a commitment, most definitely! His wife knew he wanted to fly and she gave him the support he so desperately wanted. There was no way he could do this without her, even though she was billions of kilometers away. He looked forward to seeing what awaited him and the crew of the Galileo, especially after the repairs. He aimed to put her through the works.
