Tris entered his quarters and immediately opened his uniform tunic to let the cooler air of his quarters refresh his neck and chest. He could deal with the heat of the ship that the humans found comfortable, but much cooler was his preference.

Stepping over to his bed, he sat and laid back in semi-exhaustion and relief. “Computer, begin personal Log.”

The computer chirped acknowledgement.

Tris sighed and began, “Well, this is a first. At least on this duty assignment. I have piloted a starship, the USS Galileo in this case, and docked it with a space station.” Another *sigh*. He was quiet for a moment, letting the events of the day wash over him.

“It was just like in all the simulations. Everything responded as expected. I’m not sure why I was expecting more from it. The computer was controlling most of it, well 99% of it probably. Yet, there was a certain thrill just the same.”

He reached up with both hands and began to stroke his antenna slowly, from his scalp out to the tips. This action helped him calm down and focus. “By procedure, the ship’s control systems were shut down. Hmm, to me that was the only unnerving part of the entire process. Shutting down ship’s control and letting the station power our systems and being subject to their control during Blue Alert.” Tris shivered slightly at the thought.

He continued, “It is very possible that I have a bit of a subconscious issue with allowing others to take control. Well then, I have heard many a joke made of pilots and helmsmen about them having control issues. I have in the past just let the comments, as the humans say, roll off my back. Yet maybe, just maybe, there is some merit to this levity.”

Tris then sat up, feeling a bit cooler and more relaxed. He continued, “I will be heading out into the station tomorrow morning to look around. I am not sure what of interest the station might hold for me. But, if nothing else, a quick look at the shuttlebay or launch facilities might be worth the effort.”

“End log.”
