ON:

Eviess looked at herself in the mirror. Things had not gone as she'd expected. In fact she was shocked at how they had gone. She'd planned to go to Varro's wedding, congratulate him, enjoy herself and then disappear but he'd surprised her.

As she walked over to the chair she lowered herself gently into it. She recalled the conversation that they'd had. He'd come up to her, thanked her for coming and then asked the question she wouldn't have thought he could have asked.

~~How long were you going to hide your pregnancy from me?~~

She shook her head still in shock as his words and voice rang through her ears. She had broken down then, right there, at his wedding, she had broken down and told him why she hadn't said anything, why she'd wanted to just leave.

Varro had listened and contrary to what she thought he did not get angry or say anything but words meant to reassure her. He'd told her that they were in this together and that he would not let her or their twins down.

She'd been more shocked with Blaze, the bride, had joined them and given Eviess her reassurance too.

She sighed again as the memories played in her mind. It had been a conversation that the three of them had had towards the end of the night. Eviess had made a decision. She'd be going back to Vulcan. Saul, Varro's brother had volunteered to help her out since he was on a year's leave.

Varro and Blaze had been welcoming, Varro had even opened up his home on Vulcan to her and Saul. Of course Varro's twin sister would be there to help too.

She'd expressed shock at him wanting to help since he'd been the one who had said that he didn't want any children. She remembered the look on his face, one that she would have liked to analyze but could not. It had been as if her assumption had wounded him somehow.

Eviess checked the time again. Saul would be here in the next hour and he would be the one to help her pack and head to Vulcan. She had sent in her resignation to Starfleet and awaited the confirmation that it was received and acknowledged. Once she got the word, which she expected soon, she would be packed and ready to go.

This would be a new chapter for her, a new chapter for Varro, and she looked forward to spending time with Varro's family and learning about her new babies that were on the way. She didn't know what the future held but she was ready for it.
