Visiting the Past

292 words; about a 1 minute read

ON:

Varro looked over at the envelop sitting on the table of his hotel room. He sighed and picked up the personal PADD. "Begin personal log."

He waited until the unit chimed ready, "Varro personal log. It's taken me years to write this letter, now that it's written...I just don't know if I have the courage to deliver it."

He looked again at the envelop that sat on the table as if it was a snake ready to strike. He sat down at the table and placed the PADD on it. "It has taken me years," he repeated. "My perspective has shifted as of late and I think that this letter shows that part of me is ready for the next steps but part of me is petrified. When you've spent your life building an identity and memories and when you finally admit that things are not what they seem it is difficult."

He tapped his fingers on the table. He paused and stood up. The weather was cold these days so he pulled out his light spring jacket and picked up the envelope. "I have no choice. It's written and the only way I can move on is by actually delivering it."

A shiver ran down his spine. "End log....save."

He headed out the door. He had to deliver this letter and then he would be doing another thing that he hadn't done in a while. He would be having dinner with Ilan. It had been a long time. Varro sighed again as he headed out of his hotel room. He missed Grayson. He could really use someone to talk to now, then again, Grayson knew nothing about Ilan, what would he think?
