Mission: Episode 15 - Emanation
Location: Earth - San Francisco, Vulcan Hospital IDIC
Timeline: MD 03, 1600 hours

ON:

Varro lay back feeling better then he had the day before. He sat up starting out the window which had a fabulous view of the Academy. He'd shoed everyone away and now sat there lost in this thoughts. The last conversation he'd had with Apple was on his mind. Part of him knew she was right, the other part did not want to admit it.

Grayson sat outside the hospital, unsure if he should go in. It wasn't like he was family or a partner. They had only just met the other day. It was madness. They had only just kissed. Then meeting Captain MacIntosh for lunch felt like some grander plan of an elaborate set up only seen in holonovels. He sat on a bench, head in his hands, allowing the sun to beat down the back of his neck. He didn't know what to do.

Varro thought back to the last few days and his thoughts settled on Grayson. He still hadn't figured out what was going on he was still sorting through all his feelings, and thoughts. They'd just met, they had only kissed, not even talked properly yet here he was wishing that Grayson was here.

Grayson leant against the doorframe, "This is madness you know," he said. "We've spent the better part of a day together and here we are. There are much better ways to get my attention though." He joked.

Varro's head turned to the door. "Grayson? But...how did you know I was here?" He was deliriously happy to see Grayson.

"How do you think?" he replied, starting to see why the Captain had exactly the reputation she did. This only adding to the legend.

Varro smile, "Ah yes, the poisoned Apple bit." Suddenly feeling shy he looked at Grayson. "Will you stay a while?"

"Well, this is one Snow White who bites back," Grayson said with a devilish smile. "And why else would I be here?" Walking towards the bed, he noticed a chair and pulled it closer.

Varro studied Grayson, his eyes roaming over the man's gentle and beautiful face. "I don't quiet understand things, I mean between us. It's a little fast but...before you came in I was wishing you were here."

"And I felt a little empty yesterday, laying in bed myself, suffering a bit of a hangover, I may have continued some drinks when you left," Grayson grabbed Varro's hand. "I know what you mean though. It is a little crazy. But I've learned to embrace the crazy life throws at me sometimes."

He smiled, "A skill I am learning slowly." Varro held on to Grayson's hand. "I'm sorry if Apple was a bit pushy with you...she can be a little hard to take but she means well." He looked at Grayson and held his gaze. "How are you feeling?"

"If she was pushy with me, I was pushy back. She may not like me as much anymore," Grayson answered, "The question should be, how are you? And what the hell happened?"

He sighed, "She likes you just fine. I don't know, one minute we were arguing and then I told her to leave and then I couldn't breath...they say cardiac episode due to sever stress." He shrugged. "No damage but they want to keep me another day or so." He sighed, his thumb stroking Grayson's hand as he held it. "I will be fine. I'm more worried about you. I had planed to come and see you the next morning with some Plomeek Soup. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but you should worry more about you than others. No wonder you are stressed. I've basically left Apple and came here, so unless you spoke to her just before I got here, she may think differently now."

Varro was about to reply when the door hissed open. Varro looked passed Grayson "Saul?"

Saul Varro, Soral's older brother walked in. The two men were similar but not alike. Saul was taller, had pointy ears, and was a bit older. "Hello brother. I'd heard you were here."

Varro sighed. "Grayson Jones, meet Saul Varro my brother. Saul this is Grayson, my..."

"...well, we don't know what to call this yet. We met a few days ago," Grayson stood up to extend a hand and offer the man the chair. "Lieutenant Grayson Jones, Engineer."

Saul, ever the serious one, and clearly the more Vulcan one, inclined his head and then shook Grayson's hand briefly. "Commander Saul Varro." He looked over at his brother. "What happened?"

Soral sighed. "Nothing much. I will recover and be out in a day or so."

Saul studied both men and an awkward silence filled the room. It was Saul who broke it. "Well I shall leave you two alone. If I am needed my ship is here for a few days." He looked at Grayson, "Mr. Jones." He inclined his head and was gone.

Varro groaned. "That's just what I needed big brother here." He laughed. "That one is a man of few words...but they usually scare the living stuffing out of me and anyone else. He has that....missing link air about him wouldn't you say?"

"Missing emotional link? I know Vulcans are all logic, but jeez, you are in the hospital. Would have thought there would have been more than that," then a switch went off in his head, "Wait, your brother is Vulcan?"

He smiled, "So am I, I just don't have the fancy ears. We're all half El Aurian and half Vulcan. I'm pretty much the only one without the pointy ears." He patted the bed next to him inviting Grayson to sit. "He's not a warm and fuzzy guy."

"Oh, I know all about mixed heritages then. I'm only part Trill. Faded spots and no stomach pouch. Best of Trill and Human I guess." He sat back down on the chair, "The temperament though, more Trill with the sarcasm and confidence," he gave a short laugh.

Varro smiled. He patted the bed. "Come sit here." He held out his hand.

"I'm not going to sit on any wires or tubes am I?" Grayson asked, "Cause, I did that once when younger and pulled a tube out of a sensitive area... no alarms going off either?"

Varro laughed and shook his head. He did have an anterior motive though. He wanted another kiss, normally he wasn't this bold but there was something about the Trill that spoke to him.

"Cause if they do, or you joke about it, I'd be running out of here," Grayson smiled as he hopped on the bed.

Varro laughed again, something he found easy when Grayson was round. He sat up and cupped Grayson's face. "I'm gonna kiss you, any objections?"

"Only if you stop too soon," Grayson leant in.

Varro smiled and leaned in, his kiss was feather light and gentle at first then deepened with a hurricane strength passion. He felt his heart pounding, there was a ringing in his ears...of course he was so far lost that he didn't realize those were the heart alarms responding to his elevated heartbeat and blood pressure.

Grayson rushed to the door and called out for help, for anyone nearby to come quicker than the alarms would allow.

The door whooshed open and Saul, Apple, and a nurse rushed in.

The Trill stayed at the back of the room as everyone rushed in.

Varro however found it all quite hilarious and was, for the first time in years, laughing from his very being.

Saul crossed his arms over his chest. The doctors just started at him.

Varro took a moment to compose himself. "Relax," He looked at Grayson. "Some kisses are so good they get the heart running and the pressure rising." He winked at Grayson, the poor man got a fright.

The doctor cleared his throat, "Well it's rather logical the person is in a state of arou...."

Varro cut him off. "That's quiet enough. Why don't you all leave, I'm fine. I just want to talk to Grayson."

Saul studied the young Trill. He looked like he was going to say something but then thought better of it and shooed everyone out.

Varro smiled at Grayson, "I'm sorry to scare you ....you have an effect on me." He patted the bed again.

Staying at the back of the room, arms folded just below his heart line, defensively, Grayson eyed up the situation. The one thing he was afraid to happen did and he was quite scared by it. "I'll just stay over here thanks, I don't want a repeat if that is ok."

Varro smiled at Grayson. "Grayson, it's okay. The alarms went off because my heart was beating fast. It will be okay. I'll tell you what. How about when I get out of here....perhaps....we could try dinner?" He asked hopeful that Grayson would say yes.

"Only when you are all better, no more alarms or potential for them," he scowled.

Varro chuckled. He found Grayson irresistible and they'd just met. Smiling he spoke, "Thank you for coming to see me."

"Where else would I be?" he winked.
