Mission: Episode 05 - Solstice
Location: Bloemfontein, South Africa, Earth
Timeline: MD 19 0230

ON:

M'Ressa took Teth's paw as they exited the place. She was feeling a little unsteady on her feet but not enough to worry about she figured. "I have a little place in South Africa. Quick transporter ride from here. Nice view of the Savannah."

"I've only ever been to Johannesburg. I'm told the terrain there is similar to much of our home world?"

Teth was operating on adrenaline. Both excited and nervous. Mostly nervous as he let M'Ressa lead him by his hand. It made him feel like a child, but in a good way. The night made the world seem new and bright and he couldn't stop grinning.

The journey back to M'Ressa's town was uneventful. A short five minute walk back to the transporter station and the transporter dropped them off at a community station in the outskirts of Bloemfontein.

M'Ressa took a deep breath as they stepped out into the night of Africa. The air was starting to chill but the dryness of the summer months was a refreshing change from both San Francisco & London. She grinned at Teth as she took his hand again. "This is as close to Feresa as you can find on earth."

The walk to M'Ressa's apartment was a short one. The air seemed much cooler than Teth had imagined it would and he was looking forward to being somewhere slightly more warm. Perhaps inside or perhaps just in her bed. He wasn't certain of any protocol he should follow from that point on. But as he told countless patients, he would just have to relax and see how things would play out.

M'Ressa led them to a small apartment block on the edge of the settlement. A quick climb up two flights of stairs and they were facing M'Ressa's apartment door. ~This is it,~ she said to herself. ~For better or for worse, tomorrow will not be the same.~

Keying in her code, M'Ressa opened the door to her apartment. The place was relatively spartan and laid out in an open arrangement. The focal point of the room was a large window opening out onto a deck that, during the day, had a good view of the surrounding plains. Now it was just a black hole closed over with a curtain.

M'Ressa stepped inside with Teth just behind her. The change of temperature from the chill of night to what was considered Caitian norm during the daytime. She slipped out of her jacket and motioned to Teth. "I keep it close to daytime norms for where our clan lives. A bit warm compared to earth norms so you may want to shed your jacket."

Teth nodded in agreement and removed his jacket. Underneath he was wearing a standard issue Starfleet gray undershirt. Short sleeved and form fitting, it seemed more like underwear than anything to him. He was accustomed to wearing long sleeves at all times, save for medical exams or showers. He felt exposed, and all he did was remove his jacket, he left it on a hook by the door.

The apartment smelled like M'Ressa but also something else, he couldn't pinpoint what. It had a sweet organic quality to it, something like fresh mulch of potpourri.

"You have a lovely home." he remarked as he followed her.

"Thank you. I'm somewhat of a minimalist and prefer the openness of it. If you were here during the day there'd be a good view of the surrounding plains. A little reminder of what home is like."

M'Ressa moved into the kitchen area, unsure of how human customs worked in this situation. She didn't want to come across as overeager but at the same time, didn't want to miss her chance. "Can I get you anything?"

"No, I'm fine." Teth said sheepishly, leaning into a door frame. He took a moment to look her over, to really stop and look. To realize that he was actually standing there in her kitchen. It was all really real.

"Actually," he said as he walked over and took her hands. "There is something."

He leaned in to kiss her. He wondered if she would reject him and throw him out or if there was some Caitian cultural subtlety he had missed out on and ruined the entire thing. The split second leading to the kiss was wrought with sheer terror and intense euphoria.

M'Ressa pulled Teth closer to her as he leaned in for a kiss. A spark jumped between their lips as they contacted, sending a little shiver down M'Ressa's back. She leaned back slightly against the counter and their bodies pressed up against each other. That first kiss was magical and as Teth slowly pulled away, M'Ressa closed her eyes, enjoying the linger taste of his lips and the scent of his body.

He held his breath and observed her for any signs of discomfort. But only for a moment. Then he found himself pushing her against her kitchen counter, kissing her again and carelessly trying to unbutton the front of her dress. The smell of her skin and hair were sweet and intense and all encompassing. All logical thought replaced by some ancient instinctual drive.

Teth's reaction to the kiss was all the agreement M'Ressa needed. She continued the kiss Teth had started as he undid her denim jacket. When the last button was undone she shrugged out of the jacket, tossing it on the counter beside her. Pushing back, M'Ressa slid a little ways down the counter before pressing Teth up against the cabinets.

She slipped her hand under the waistband og his pants, pulling the tucked in tails of the uniform undershirt up and sliding the shirt up his body. Teth's body underneath the undershirt, while not particularly muscular, had a certain firmness about it that was common of most Caitian males. Her purr became almost a growl as his exposed chest came into view.

He pulled her into him by her hips, running his hands under her skirt and over her body, lingering on the curves of her hips and and breasts, the base of her tail. He pulled off the dress and threw it to the side.

M'Ressa pulled a small clip out of her hair, letting her mane loose to flow around her neck. She undid the buttons to his pant's with some gusto, slipping them down below his waist, enjoy the firmness of his waist and buttocks.

Pulling away slightly, she traced a claw gently down the bridge of his nose. "I think we should find a more comfortable place wouldn't you agree Teth?"

He froze for a moment, looked around, and realized that they were in fact standing in the middle of her kitchen. If the evening was to progress the way he felt it should, this would not be a practical or comfortable location.

"You're probably right."

M'Ressa traced a line down his jaw and grinned."Then follow me."

Her bedchambers were quite literally across the room and she led the way. Stepping inside the lights came on but not the same intensity as the common area. She sensed rather then saw Teth behind her and she quickly unfastened her bra, a front closing piece in the style Terrans called a sports model. Letting it fall to the floor she faced Teth.

"I hope I am acceptable to you Teth." She paused, unsure of how Teth felt about her figure. "I am new to this thing the Terran call "making love."

And all of the mounting excitement and arousal that Teth managed to acquire on the short walk to the bedroom suddenly turned into an empty void in his chest.

"Oh." he said in subdued tone, feeling rather surprised, considering how quickly the evening had escalated.

"Are you sure you're ok with this? I don't want you to feel pressured."

M'Ressa approached Teth. "All evening I have been hoping for this moment Teth. I am nervous because I have never done this before with a man. I just want reassurance I am not making a mistake."

Teth smiled gently and put his hand to her face.

"You're not making a mistake. Just- let me know if you are experiencing discomfort."

He grabbed her by her hands and pulled her onto her bed, and onto him. He looked up at her, a velvety semi-silhouette in the red ambient lighting.

"You're the most beautiful sight I've ever seen." and in that moment, he most certainly and sincerely meant it.

M'Ressa smiled down at Teth, straddling him . She was nervous about her first time but also wanted Teth to be the one and didn't want to ruin it. "You're handsome yourself Teth." She leaned forward so she could kiss Teth and let him play with her body.

Teth just pulled her into him tightly, burrowing his face in the place between her shoulder and neck. He was in no particular hurry, he wanted to enjoy this. For once, for the first time ever. As he ran his fingertips down the length of her spine, he inhaled sharply. Logic and lust were warring in his mechanically regulated mind.

He stopped momentarily to slide out of his underwear, the last of his clothing. Instead of feeling exposed this time, he felt fluid and warm. M'Ressa seemed quite anxious as well. It wasn't until that particular moment that he realized how much smaller she was than him. He felt like he could pick her up under one arm and carry her off like a sack of tubers.

So he grabbed her by her hips and tried to move her into position, pushing himself into her.

"Pleas let me know if you want to stop." he said softly as he pulled her in even closer, he was consumed by her soft warmth. He wanted to feel every part of her from her face to her shoulder-blades to the depths of her body.

He stared into her eyes to watch for any sign of reaction. Enjoyment or confusion or pain. He hoped desperately for the former.

M'Ressa shifted slightly as Teth slipped out of his underwear, removing her own, climbing back onto Teth. A purr began deep inside her as Teth's hands touched her in ways she'd never been touched before.

She felt Teth's manhood press against her and, with a slight shift, felt him penetrate her. She bit her lip as she lowered herself down on Teth, pushing him farther inside. After several seconds, panting from the pain of the penetration and the effort of trying to straddle him, M'Ressa looked down at Teth. "Perhaps if you were on top this would work better."

"Perhaps you're right." he said, and the response had been a running theme for the evening.

Teth let her go and and the two tried to situate themselves into a more accommodating position. Teth pushed a pillow to the side as he watched her stretch back onto her bed, staring back at him expectantly.

He climbed back to her on hands and knees, stopping to kiss her along her stomach and chest, he stopped when he was eye to eye with her, pushed up on his elbows.

"You ready to give this another shot?" he asked with a crooked smile.

M'Ressa nodded, pulling Teth's hip's closer to hers, spreading her legs a bit, lining him up for what was next. "Do not stop unless I tell you to."

With silent understanding, Teth wrapped his arms around her as he thrust into her, closing his eyes and losing himself in the sensation of it. Everything in the sprawling reaches of the universe was gone and replaced only by M'Ressa and her eyes and hair and delicate fingertips, curling through the hair on his chest.

M'Ressa felt a sharp stab of pain as Teth thrust into her. Silently nodding for him to continue she bit her lip to stifle a yelp as he pressed harder, taking her virginity. The pain however soon faded as pleasure took over and she began purring as she felt Teth intimately for the first time. Whispering a thank you in his ear, she let herself go to enjoy the new sensations of their intimacy.

He paused, wanting to reply, but was at a loss for words or even thought. So instead he squeezed her more tightly and pushed into her more deeply. Nothing was clinical or coerced, no one was threatened. They were making love together and it was a beautiful and spiritually moving experience for the young Caitian man. What must have been mere moments seemed to stretch on forever.

M'Ressa had never been intimate with another person before and was lost in the sensations and smells of their passion. What they were sharing was an amazing act that transcended the physical and the emotional aspects of their friendship. M'Ressa called out Teth's name as their passion reached it's climax and she collapsed in the bed, her energy spent.

Teth lost himself to M'Ressa and before he knew it, he was laying next to her in her bed, her blanket pulled halfway over him, but the ambient temperatures in the room didn't really require it. Even after sharing such an intimate act with M'Ressa, he wasn't quite used to being seen undressed.

He caressed her hair and studied her face even more.

"I've really enjoyed being with you." he said finally, "I don't just mean the sex. I mean, that part was great too. But in general. You're a wonderful and fascinating and beautiful person. It's quite a shame that the Galileo will be departing soon... I really wish you were being posted there."

M'Ressa merely nodded. After tonight, there was only one place she wanted to be and that was beside Teth. "I really hope so too Teth. I don't think I could stand to watch you leave to go out among the stars without me."

"I suppose there's always subspace." Teth said with a yawn, wondering what time it was, or what time it should have been in San Francisco. He wondered if he was missing an appointment or meeting, but for the moment didn't care.

"I've only known you for a day." he said, his voice sounding lower, sad even. The post-coital endorphins were beginning to wear off. He felt cold and hollow, remembering that he would have to go back to his office at headquarters soon. That this entire encounter with M'Ressa was likely a waste, they would probably never even see each other again.

He rolled over and curled up at her side, draping her with willowy limbs in hopes that he could will time to slow. Slow enough to figure out whether what he was feeling was as deep and important as it felt, or if it was just passing infatuation. Synapses playing tricks on him as usual. He wondered where the inevitable pain and panic would follow as it always had before. Or if it would at all.

M'Ressa curled up in Teth's arms, wondering if she'd made the right move. Self doubt crept in as she lay there debating whether this had been one big mistake. Teth was leaving sooner rather then later and she wondered if they were just two starships passing in the dead of space. A chance encounter among the stars, no more, no less.

"Teth. If I'm not going with you, will you stay in touch? Let me know how things fare out in space?"

"Absolutely." he said, "Or maybe I'll just stay here instead. I'm not really sure if I'm even ready to go back into space. This is my first time on Earth in three years. Everything changes so much when we're gone."

M'Ressa rolled over facing Teth, a single tear rolling down her face. There was so much she wanted to say to Teth but found herself choking on the words.

Teth noticed that she was crying and pushed himself up into a sitting position.

"What's wrong? Are you ok?"

M'Ressa crawled into a semi sitting position and held Teth closely. "I'm not sure what's wrong Teth. I just feel so mixed up inside." She wiped a tear from her eye before continuing. "Tonight we shared something special. something I'll never forget. I don't want to let that go but I also don't want to hold you back."

He shook his head. "No, it isn't that. Though I do think you are a wonderful reason to stick around. I'm just starting to wonder if I didn't make a mistake joining Starfleet. My time back has been very confusing and uncomfortable and outright terrifying sometimes. I'll spare you the details, but I have some chapters of my life that really just need to be ended. Maybe resigning would be a good way to do that."

He absentmindedly rubbed her neck with his left hand, wondering how she could feel so soft.

"And that way I could go wherever you end up. I have some training as a medic, I could go back to school, maybe become a nurse. Nurses are always needed anywhere you go."

"I don't want you to ditch your entire career Teth just because of one night with someone you almost met. It's not fair to either of us."

He looked at her closely before sighing and flopping back onto the bed.

"Believe me when I say that you aren't the only reason... Though you are a very good reason. I just don't even think I'm a very good counselor. I don't know if I'm suited for this pseudo-military lifestyle. I'm still young, I easily have another sixty years of work ahead of me, I could start a new career now and it wouldn't even be a problem."

M'Ressa snuggled in closer to Teth, facing him as she traced a claw down his chest. "As long as I'm not the main reason Teth." Crawling up so their heads were level she gave him a kiss. "Don't do anything irrational and we'll see how this plays out. Okay?"

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close.

"I won't" he said, "I promise. I have a lot to think about, but right now I just want to stay here, with you. If that's ok, of course."

M'Ressa purred gently as she felt Teth's strong arms around her. "That is totally fine."

Laying there in Teth's arms, comfortable in the experience they just shared, M'Ressa began to feel sleepy.

And as twilight stretched over the savannah, Teth kissed M'Ressa on the head before the both drifted off to sleep.
