Mission: Episode 05 - Solstice
Location: Vulcan
Timeline: MD 27 0500

ON:

It was early in the morning in the region the shuttle landed. As Teth stepped into the small Vulcan town the air was cold and dry. A place he had been many times before. The town was close to a popular tourist location (and as fun anywhere else on Vulcan). As such, he went on several family vacations to the place, as well as a trip he made while he serving at Starfleet medical.

There were no souvenir shops like the Martian colony. There was, however, a small supply shop. There Teth purchased a compact, single person tent, a collapsible spade, a jacket, a basic tricorder with global positioning capabilities, a first aid kit, a PADD with containing the Classic Poems of Orval Threxar, a low power phase pistol intended for fighting off wild animals, three Vulcan manufactured protein bars. All purchased with an energy credit external card linked to a ghost account. Something a low ranking engineer at Utopia Planetia can generally assist you with for a price.

He filled up his backpack with water, carrying all his gear, he headed off on foot. It was a long walk, but he felt confident he could get there before the sun got too high. For a member of a race that has thrived on a desertous savannah planet for millenia, Teth was not fond of hot sandy places. It didn't matter this time though. It was the last time he ever planned to visit the place.

The navigation device helped, but Teth was certain he could have found the spot by memory. Not that he could forget even if he wanted to.

He planned to go to sleep immediately after setting up camp and wait for dusk to come out. During the day, the desert was scattered with hikers and explorers and surveyors, and the Vulcan park rangers traveled by single passenger antigrav-vehicles. By the time it started getting dark, everyone would leave or go back to camp, and then Teth would have plenty of time to dig.

The Caitian calibrated the tricorder to search under the ground for an open cavity. When he found one in a very specific size range between two very specific boulders, he knew he was at the right place.

He set up his tent and put the rest of his supplies, save the phaser and water, into his shoulder case. With the weapon and water, he shimmied into the lime green, cone shaped tent and did his best to sleep. He managed some rest, but mostly he couldn't stop thinking about what came next. And know one would ever know. Deep in the desert. so far away from everything.
