All warfare is based on deception

"So in a few days we will be playing war with the Federation. I would much prefer that it was more than playing but we will pretend none the less.

Still it will be an exercise like practice with the batleth to probe for your enemies weakness, to study their moves, to find the spots where they are soft.

I shall 'play' my part and smile and laugh. I have studied much of that Earther Sun Tzu and what a warrior he must have been. Much words of wisdom did he make in his writings.

I like many others have always charged headlong in glorious battle but as I read this work I have taken it to heart:

'All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.'

I can hardly wait and yet I must seem the model of patience to put them at ease. It had served me well to get me this command."
