Ivory...White...Pearl...?!

"So...what do you think?"

Siren turned on the spot where she stood in front of the computer screen recording her log, lifting her arms so that the dress she wore could be seen fully.

She stopped, looking down at it with a half smile, touching it where it hugged her figure.

"I know," she sighed, glancing to the screen she talked to it as if a person. "Not exactly inspiring, is it," she moved to drop down in the seat, shaking her head with a slight frown.

"I read somewhere that a wedding dress was supposed to be special. You know, like you see yourself in it and start crying 'cause it's so damned amazing. This is just....a party dress..." Siren gave a half smile as she looked down at herself with a slight shrug. "No, this can't be 'the one' then."

"Mind you, I also hear you're meant to choose a wedding dress with your mother. Don't have one of those," she rubbed the back of her neck, her lips pursed. "I'm not sure I can do this by myself," she said quietly, but shook her head, not having an answer for it. She didn't understand who she could ask instead. And why would anyone want to spend their precious free time looking at dresses for someone else anyway?

"I wonder what Lirha will be wearing," Siren whispered, resting back in the chair with a sigh. "Well, it'll definitely be something Orion. And slinky. And made of little material," she laughed fondly as she thought about it. "Maybe I could get away with just wearing some trousers and a vest then? Everyone will be staring at Lirha's damned amazing body."

Running her hands through her long, red hair to get it out of her face, Siren half draped herself over the arms of the chair, musing on it all. "I don't understand this wedding thing, there's so many different traditions and things to get and think about. And...I don't seem to be getting it right," she glanced down to the dress with an arched eyebrow.

"It's all a bit nerve making. I mean, when we get to Lirha's home, it's not just the wedding. I have to meet her family, and hell knows what they'll make of this stray she's picked up along the way; with no family...an enlisted data cruncher marrying their Commodore," she chuckled weakly, glancing down as she licked her lips, taking a soft, hitching breath.

"I don't know much about families either...." she suddenly laughed, her good humour returning. "This makes me sound like I don't know very much about anything. Some intelligence petty officer, huh?" she chuckled, but with good jest at herself rather than doubt now, the moment gone.

"No, no it just won't do," Siren stood up, moving her hands down over the dress. "Back to the drawing board..."
