Personal Log, Stardate 67412.3

I don't really like how Fleet makes us do these log things...can't remember ever being in the Corps and having to keep a record of my 'feelings' and shit. Anyway, rules are rules I guess, so doesn't do me much good to complain. Got to embrace the suck, you know?

Chuckle and shrug

Well, the last week's been pretty exciting. The captain has our ship in full-survey mode which means there's a bunch of away teams coming and going almost every hour during my shift. The shuttlebay's been real busy and we're pushing our Type-9s pretty hard right now. I've already had to replace five thruster quads and two bussard collector housings, not to mention sealing about twenty hull microfractures. Our Waverider seems to be holding up a bit better, though, probably because she's a bigger shuttle with a stronger structural integrity field. Even still, some of the atmospheric gasses from the various planets are corroding several sections of hull plating, so I'm going to have to go EVA at some point to replace a few panels on the ventral surface.

On a positive note, I've made a few new acquaintances over the past days. There's a new science officer...Crawley, I think? We bumped into each other on Deck 4 yesterday and got to chatting. She's real nice and I think she'll make a good addition to the crew. And she's pretty cute...if I wasn't already dating Lilou, I'd probably ask her out.

Another chuckle

Then there's this guy Kiwosk who I met on a recent underwater survey. Nice fella. We met again recently in the mess hall and I found out that he's a former Marine like myself. He said he was part of the 22nd, one of the battalions that I worked with when I was in the 82nd. They're a great group of guys so it's pretty cool to have one of them on board Galileo with us. After we got to talking for a bit, Kiwosk mentioned this new group he's forming called the Tactical Response Team, some sort of emergency management group designed to supplement our small security department. He asked me to sign up so I think I'm going to take him up on his offer and talk to Lieutenant Mialin when I get the chance. Don't get me wrong...I like flying shuttles, but a little extra action wouldn't hurt.

Oh I almost forgot, I met yet another new officer in the shuttlebay recently. I didn't catch her name but she's an ensign in either the Engineering or Ops department. She was...a bit strange. Somewhat quiet and really didn't introduce herself to me, but she apparently lost something on the shuttlecraft that she arrived in. I tried to help her find it but no luck... And I'm not a telepath but she seemed kind of upset about it. I felt bad for her but didn't know what else to say, so I just let it go and we went our separate ways.

Clears throat

Alright, that's enough for now. I'll record another one of these things in a few days. Darius out.

End Log
