First Officer's Personal Log,

Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Holliday reporting.

Let the record show that Lieutenant Drusilla McCarthy acted as a member of this crew with dignity and confidentiality at all times. The medical situation that has led to her current predicament should be acknowledged by the whole crew as a terrible tragedy to befall anyone so young, and so bright.

In addition, I wish to add my own personal congratulations to our Assistant CMO for her fast work and quick response during a stressful time. I may not be a surgeon, or even up to the job of anything past emergency triage, but it was good to know that this crew has officers with such dedication and skill to call upon even in the darkest times.

Transport of the Lieutenant back to more complete medical facilities shall be effected as soon as we return to Federation space, for now the doctors assure me that there is nothing more that they can do. I personally remain hopeful that Lt McCarthy will pull through this by herself, and take her place amongst this crew once again.

No mission is so important that the lives of the men and women of this fine vessel, and this fine fleet, can ever be ignored, or made secondary. Fleet Admirals do not see what is out here often enough, they don't fight on the front lines, and they don't get to know their junior officers, but I'm not like them. I'm a soldier through and through...and when I see one of my crewmates fall like that, and descend into such a comatose state, I cannot help but feel pity and sorrow for their situation.

We are all travellers on the same road, and when one of us stumbles, the rest must be there to pick them up.

End Log.
