First Officer's Log,

The Galileo has finally left the surface of Vega and we are currently docked at Starbase 185 to take on resources in preparation for our next mission. I did not expect a simple survey msision to have quite so many elements as this one seems to - Starfleet tell us that although we are rather close to Borg space, the threat of an incursion by one of their vessels should be considered a low risk.

It is my opinion that where the Borg are concerned, there is no such thing as a low risk...if they appear even on the edge of our sensors, I will have Galileo running back to Federation space so fast that even transwarp drive wouldn't be enough to catch us.

I am equally disappointed that a team from the Federation news service will be aboard our vessel for the duration of this mission. As far as I am concerned, civillians do not belong aboard a Starfleet vessel unless absolutely necessary. We are out here doing our jobs for the betterment of humanity, not because we want someone to write an article telling us quite how well we are doing that job.

I am equally puzzled over how best to deal with the recent actions of our security chief, Lieutenant Stone. Some of his actions would indicate to me that his personality is even more unstable than I may have originally thought. The stream of officers through my door raising complaints is getting to be past the point that I care to entertain Mr Stone's presence aboard this vessel for. Should any further incidents occur, I will not hesitate to demand the captain have him immediately confined to the Brig and swiftly transferred off this vessel.

Only time will tell.

*door chimes*

Computer, end log.
