Physical Appearance

Height 6'2''
Weight 150 LBS
Hair Color Brown

Physical Description Tall, and lithe, Arandon towers over many, his slight and tall frame being a somewhat imposing sight in the small corridors of the Galileo. Beautiful and boyish, Arandon is still in a somewhat awkward, though still attractive, teenage phase by Romulan or Risian standards. As imposing and statuesque as he is stationary and from afar, his personality and his somewhat clumsy, if graceful, control over his body ruin that impression to those that observe him long enough. His brown hair hands in bangs that cover portions of his face and are constantly being pushed to the side when he works on experiments on his precious plants. His skin is a bit tanned, Vulcanoid and dusky. His green eyes blend into the rest of his otherwise brown features that cause them to look darker than they actually are. They are often engaged with something, either staring off into space or focused on his plants. They dart away from people in conversation and while they're pretty to look at, people rarely get the opportunity to observe and stare into them up close. His Romulan ears are a presumably sensitive topic and he covers them up with his hair. When he does smile, his face lights up with a sort of radiance that seems like night and day compared to his normal, contemplative or tortured outlook.
Body Art Arandon does not wear the Ja'risia, unlike many of his people and has some odd, black ink script tattoos on his body. It would appear that he often covers these up, either with cosmetics or simply wearing clothing that covers them.

Family

Spouse None
Children None
Father Riov Aerith t'Khnailmnae
Mother Laris
Brother(s) Older: Jerenan, Malku, Hani
Younger: Kjin
Sister(s) Doutzen_Kroes_Cannes_2013.jpg Samar: Arandon's only older sister, Samar is the third oldest of Laris's children and twin to Hani. Samar and Hani are also the only full Risians among their siblings. Six years older than Arandon, Samar was ever her younger brother's protector even though she never fully understood him. Arandon lacked the Risian attitudes towards sex and in that way Samar found it difficult to give him advice or relate to him, but she tried. Out of all of his siblings though, Arandon has the closest relationship with Samar. A brilliant Risian beauty, Samar recently became one of the administrators for Suraya bay.

marie-serneholt-profile-587x700.jpg Livu: Arandon's younger sister and the closest to him in age (being exactly 10 months apart), Livu never got along well with her brother and her natural confidence and exuberance let her fit right in Risian society, where Arandon always chaffed. She frequently made fun of him for focusing more on his studies and more cerebral pursuits than relaxing and having fun. Livu's exploitation of her meek brother's shyness and insecurity in their formative years is still a sore spot for Arandon, though she brushes it off like it was nothing. Livu also has the closest relationship with her father (a Human Starfleet officer) out of all of her siblings, though she continues to live on Risa.

cintia-principal.jpg Haliaa:Five years younger than Arandon, Haliaa is a sweet young girl who had much in common with Arandon during her formative years. A half Betazoid, Haliaa also had trouble with her abilities and fitting in Risian society, though never to the degree that Arandon did. She slowly gained her confidence as she blossomed into a young woman though, and also followed in her brother's footsteps by entering the University of Nuvia.
Moren, Koren
Other Family Through is father, he is a member (even as a bastard) of house Khnailmnae, though they are unaware or perhaps, uninterested, in his existence.

Personality & Traits

General Overview A quiet man, aloof and bright, a bit innocent and more than a bit distant and cold, Arandon is a pretty doll on a shelf, one you take down to play with carefully, if at all. No one could deny that he's brilliant, if untested and far too willing to go unnoticed, but no one could also deny that he lacks a certain confidence in himself and his ability. He doesn't suffer from low self-esteem, in fact he's rather secure in who he is, but he doesn't like to project that outwards to other people. Arandon keeps to himself and avoids interaction with others, other than on a purely superficial or professional basis. Some would be surprised that he got through the Academy in one piece, or even got through it at all. There's a certain determination to him though, that runs on a sort of robotic instinct that allows him to act as an officer. His duties, of course, are rather mundane, and one wonders if he could function as well as he does professionally, if he was under more stress, like the stress aboard a Starship.
Strengths He's retained much of his Starfleet training, surprisingly, he knows what to do in a crisis. Unfortunately, to him that means staying put. He's qualified as a medic and knows a great deal of textbook knowledge about many, many things, though he lacks the particular skills in those areas. Where an engineer could fix something perhaps on instinct, Arandon would have to mentally open a textbook and go through the procedure step by step, a rather slow process.
Weaknesses Arandon is an untested officer when it comes to deep space assignments and he's not exactly the most personable person. His weaknesses lie in the social arena, though he's also inexperienced in the chaotic situations that come with serving aboard a starship. He's very much by the book, literally.
Ambitions If Arandon has goals, he's certainly keeping his head down in pursuit of them.
Hobbies & Interests Perhaps unsurprisingly, his hobbies and interests lie in his choice of careers. He's adept at what he does and he has shown a keen ability to splice DNA, breed superior blooms and predict the evolutionary outcome of his experiments.
Vernacular Arandon has a soft, somewhat muffled voice. He speaks softly but quickly to the point where it is somewhat hard for people to understand him. When he does speak up, it is in a calm, somewhat naïve tone of voice that resembles a rather haughty Romulan accent.
Orientation Homosexual
Language(s) Spoken Risian, Federation Standard, A Smattering of Romulan and Some Other Languages

Personal History Born on Risa, in Suraya Bay in 2365, Arandon was the only child of a liaison between a vacationing Romulan officer and Laris, a native Risian. Arandon's father was not present for his birth and they did not meet until after the destruction of Romulus, so for the most part, Arandon was raised by his mother and her other children, all from different fathers. A Vulcanoid child on a hedonistic world, Arandon always felt at home on Risa, but didn't necessarily blend well with the rest of the planet. Pleasure was the prime pursuit for everyone and Arandon proved to be more prudish than others, especially his mother and most of his many siblings. Ever the 'little brother', Arandon was constantly being looked after and protected by his older siblings, which gave him the time to study, silently on the beaches. As he matured, he gained an interest in the plant life around him, reading voraciously on the subject.

At the age of 14, he independently applied to the University of Nuvia on Risa. Naturally, being too young, he was rejected, but his application did catch the eye of Doctor Shere, who offered to tutor the boy in botany and other sciences. Studying with Doctor Shere, Arandon won several young science awards, though these hardly went noticed on a planet perhaps single-mindedly in pursuit of pleasure.

Around this time too, Arandon's telepathic abilities began to surface. Unusual in both Romulans and Risians, his abilities were unusual and highly potent. Easily slipping into the thoughts of others, he became even more withdrawn, trying to focus his mind on his studies as the years went by. Coming into his own as a young man as well, Arandon began to experiment sexually with various visitors to the planet. An intense union of mind and body, he learned well from the traditional Risian practices of Jamaharon. Eventually though, he tired of physical pleasure and at age 17, made it his firm pursuit to enter Starfleet.

It was perhaps an unusual ambition for a quiet young man, but with Doctor Shere's help and more than enough credentials under his belt (and some would say a lax requirement on Botany majors) he was successfully admitted in 2382.

In 2387, during his time on Mars, Arandon was alerted to the sudden reappearance of his father in the aftermath of Hobus. His only child left, Aerith tried to reconnect with his son and Arandon didn't push him away. 3 years later they talk, though like everyone else, Arandon and Aerith don't have an especially deep relationship. They're taking it one day at a time though and Aerith has been teaching his son more about what it means to be Rihannsu. They also share an interest in plants, though Aerith's is more of a passing fancy than anything real.
Starfleet History An unremarkable cadet, but a bright student, Arandon performed well academically at the Academy, but struggled in the beginning to apply this knowledge to field exercises. He was also somewhat isolated from his fellow cadets, but perhaps by his own choice. Moving through his years of the Academy, Arandon kept his head down and performed to the best of his ability, which met with mixed reactions among his instructors. Having a hard mind for the sciences, he graduated with departmental honors but it was written in his Starfleet file that his future status as an officer didn't look particularly bright. He wasn't a risk taker and the best he might do is head of a small, very small, botany department on a base somewhere.

Arandon's first assignment was to Mars, working in botany labs that used Mars as a basis for future terraforming projects. While there, he also worked on his Doctorate at McKay University. While there, he was known as an unremarkable and quiet man, who kept his head down and did his work. He quietly submitted proposals to his section head, Lieutenant Faraday, who found them inventive, but Arandon refused to take individual credit. Never the less, it was so noted in his file. For four years there was a back and forth between the Lieutenant and Arandon who pressed him to develop his skills as an officer and scientist. After completing his Doctorate and reading his brilliant thesis on sentient plantlife, Lieutenant Faraday recommended a deep space assignment for planetary survey for Arandon.

Promptly shoved off Mars, Arandon was assigned to the USS Galileo as their new resident botanist, but it is anyone's guess if he will perform well there. It's his first deep space assignment and it's a potentially exhausting one. Only time will tell if Arandon will finally break out of his shell and join the rest of the galaxy, or founder in the face of greater responsibility.
Medical History With his telepathic status, Arandon has since evolved a sense of mental control. He is firmly in control of his abilities.

Arandon suffered several minor injuries during Academy simulations, though nothing lasting. Members of his cadet squad (either affectionately or mockingly) used to say that it wasn't a success until he got injured in some way.
