Personality & Traits
General Overview | Serok is logical, stoic, and blunt as is to be expected of most members of his race. To those who know him well, however, they can find him a rather personable officer, with a surprisingly good sense of humor...who covers most of it up with his logical, stoic facade.
Strengths | Gifted with a sharp tactical mind and remarkable memory, Serok's mind is usually his first and best weapon. He has the physical strength and endurance exhibited by his race, and is in excellent condition. For the most part, he also displays the usual Vulcan-calm in stressful situations.
Weaknesses | While an excellent melee combatant, Serok is only an adequate shot with a phaser, having to take his Academy firearms finals twice to be able to reach the required score for Officers. He has also yet to master full use of what is commonly called the "Vulcan Mind Meld", and to date has merely demonstrated mild empathic abilities rather than full telepathy.
Ambitions | While his parents are avidly against it, Serok's primary personal goal in Starfleet is to one day command his own starship.
Hobbies & Interests | Serok relaxes by studying several martial arts, but is most proficient in the Vulcan martial art of Ponn-ifla, a fairly non-lethal combat form, as well as Judo, a human style which has a similar philosophy to the Vulcan form. He is also enjoys cooking and chess.
Orientation | Heterosexual

Personal History | Serok was born on Vulcan in the capital city of ShiKahr to two of the Vulcan Science Academy's elite instructors. Both of his parents had previously undergone the ritual Kolinahr, the Vulcan ritual wherein they expell all emotion from their minds, and thus, he grew up in an extremely logical and almost sterile enviroment. The young Vulcan showed signs of being rather gifted from an early age, and his parents expected that he would eventually join them in their work in both the academic and scientific fields. To their great dismay, however, Serok had other ideas. While he enjoyed his scientific studies, Serok was far more interested in the universe as a whole and the exploration of it. Solenn, his father, declared that these desires were the folly of a young, emotional mind, and demanded that Serok follow the course that his parents thought most logical. Serok's mother, T'Pae was in full agreement with her husband, and together the two did their best to guide and at times force their son to heed their wishes. However, when it came time for Sorek to actually apply to the Vulcan Science Academy, he did rebel, and instead applied and was accepted into Starfleet. Neither Solenn nor T'Pae have spoken to Serok since. |

Starfleet History | Surok did well at the Academy, showing a natural aptitude for Sensor Analysis and Quantum Physics, as well as a natural tendency towards Leadership. As such, his initial goal in his studies was with the Science department. However, the more he advanced, the more the young Vulcan found himself growing restless and even, envious, of officers in other departments, especially those on track for future commands. In his final year at the Academy Serok changed his focus to that of Operations with a secondary eye on Engineering, insomuch as it would affect the day to day operations of a Starship. Several of his instructors tried to talk him out of it, but Serok doubled his own workload, which had already been impressive by any standard, and ended up passing all of his qualifying markers for an officer in the Operations line. Considering his background in both the Science and Operations fields, he was recently assigned to the U.S.S. Galileo, a Science vessel with a focus on exploration.
