| Physical Description | Pixis is in decent physical condition, he exercises regularly, but not with any particular vigor or desire for improvement. As a result his is fairly average in his build, somewhat slender, lanky, and androgynous thanks to his Maxian heritage. He wears his dark gray hair cut short, often parted on the left side. His skin is a light blue-green color, pale enough that his blood vessels are easily seen beneath the surface. His eyes are large and black with a small blue pigmented ring in the center surrounding diamond shaped compound pupils. | |

| Personal History | Pixis was born on Maxinar, the Maxian home world to Ervil Norvin and D'Nima Pixis. The former was a 20 year old student and the latter was his much older professor and the Maxinar University of Propulsion Field Studies, Despite their somewhat scandalous relationship, the two were married shortly after Ervil graduated. The had three children in quick succession. Identical twin boys Finnix and Vorin, and then a daughter, Theema. When they were all young children, D'Nima was killed in a freak electrical accident while tinkering with an old single person shuttle she had been trying to restore. As a result of his mother's early demise, Finnix and his siblings were raised by their young father and their father's young mother, Xelia on their home world. When Finnix was eight, he went with his grandmother, to an airshow in a neighboring city. There was a freak accident and she was decapitated by a stray cable from the bottom of one of the fighters performing in the show. It maimed several other people. Finnix and his brother were unharmed. In accordance with Maxian custom, Finnix attended basic primary school until the age of nine. At that point, all Maxian children are required to chose their life path and receive specialized training and education to acheive that goal. Finnix decided he wanted to become a nurse and work for the Global Hospital Network. His brother Vorin chose to become a shuttle pilot. Finnix excelled in school, but when he came of age where most Maxian's joined the local work force, he decided instead to enlist in Starfleet, instead. This was made easy as he had spent the past four years of his life training to be a nurse. And while Maxinar is not a Federation world, they do have a very good relationship with the federation. Once the enlistment proceedings were over and the basic and advanced training began, Finnix xceeded everyone's expectations. He was the only Maxian there, and as a result, found the experience to be a somewhat lonely one. Some parts of human culture were difficult for him. It wasn't until his first posting on the USS Redwing that he finally started to "fit in" to the military life style and even made a few friends in spite of his previous social awkwardness. His time on the Redwing was unremarkable until the very end. The ship was a small scouting vessel. They were boarded by hostile aliens, unknown aliens who appeared to be part of some trafficking operation. They were held prisoner until they managed to overthrow their captors and retake the ship using xenon gas. A third of the crew was lost during those events. After serving on the Redwing as a nurse, he was transferred to the Starfleet medical for six months before receiving transfer orders to the USS Galileo. ==================================================== Basic History of Maxinar and their Beliefs and Customs: Brief History: Maxinar was once a highly technologically advanced, intelligent, war like race. They had done a great deal of experimenting with genetic engineering, which included trying to incorporate traits from other humanoid species they encountered. This required that they obtain genetic samples from the desired species, which often resulted in the abduction and extraction of visiting aliens. Or even aliens on other worlds that were visited by the Maxians. Around 2138, Maxinar experienced a world-scale civil war that killed two thirds of the population currently inhabiting the planet. Following that incident, the survivors began to rebuild, and as they rebuilt, they also began to restructure their beliefs system. They became a mostly isolationist race, very few Maxians ever venture out of their system, which is located near the Risan system. Before, their main export had been weapons, but they decided to focus their efforts on communication and entertainment technologies. They also are known for having excellent cybernetic specialists. This was necessary in part to help rehabilitate the survivors of the war. Spirituality: They are now a very peaceful and spiritual people. Following the war, an interest in their religion, Terkaria rekindled. It is a polytheistic religion, the two main gods are Teva, the feminine goddess, responsible for life, birth, and fertility, and Norn, the masculine god, responsibility for wisdom, instinct, and the passage from life into the netherworld. There is a third, sexless god called Trel who is responsible for controlling the entropy and energy of the universe. Basic Overview of Physical Features: Maxians are a humanoid race. Their skin tones range from blue, green, or gray, from very light color, to vivid tones. Their hair is generally dark gray, brown, or black. Violet, white, and light blue variations do occur, but are more rare as they are recessive traits. Maxian eyes are very complex and capable of seeing a broader spectrum of light than human eyes. It is notable that their eyes are especially sensitive to x-ray radiation. Prolonged exposure can result in serious damage. They have an unusual three chambered heart, zinc based silvery colored blood, and do well in low atmosphere environments, but cope very poorly with heat. Maxians reproduce sexually. Unlike most humanoids, they had three sexes, female, male, and paramale. All three are required for the reproductive cycle and all three do contribute genetic material. Females carry on average one to three children per pregnancy. The Maxian gestational period is six months. Females carry their offspring in a typical humanoid uterus and give birth vaginally. Though capable of breastfeeding, the act has all but become phased out of their culture and replaced by highly specialized infant formula for the sake of convenience and ease. The average Maxian life span is 200 years, though they are considered fully capable adults at the age of 16. Suicide is a very common cause of death for the Maxian people, but generally only when a Maxian has reached an age where their quality of life is quickly deteriorating. Dying with dignity is of great value in the Maxian culture. |
