"SFS To Dissolve SFMC"

Earth, Paris - JUN 23, 2391 - By Jamoran Piilun

Following months of deliberation among all chartered worlds, the Federation Council has just approved Measure 1917, effectively dissolving the remains of the Starfleet Marine Corps into Starfleet Security primary operations. Federation News Network sources say this measure has already been signed off on by the President, and all SFMC forces are expected to disband and report for reassignment within the next 180 days.

The organizational change comes at a time of reduced Borg and Jem'Hadar threat and with an increased need for internal Fleet and exploratory security. Reactions so far are mixed across the Federation, with many core worlds praising the change while frontier colonies near conflict zones are protesting.
