Mission: Episode 02 - Resupply
Location: USS Galileo: Pola's Quarters
Timeline: MD15 2109 hours

Evelyn stopped by Pola's quarters, knowing she couldn't avoid the good doctor any longer, especially with the Galileo returning to active duty soon. She reached out for the door chime and pressed the console. She looked over the PADD she held in her hand a final time as she waited for Pola to answer the chime.

Sighing as she heard the chime ring out, Pola looked at the chronometer before rubbing her eyes. She hadn't been expected Cyrus, she knew that he'd a number of work related tasks to take care of. As her head throbbed, she half wondered if she could just ignore the door, just turn over and fall back asleep. As the chime rang out for a second time, the Doctor forced her body from the bed, rubbing her fist against her eyes puffy from an unexplained exhaustion. "Enter."

Evelyn slowly walked in the room, "Good day, Doctor..." catching a glimpse of the good doctor's appearance, Eve frowned, "oh I'm sorry, did I come at a bad time? I didn't mean to interrupt your rest."

Frowning as she recognised the woman in the doorway, Pola let out a sigh as she wondered why life seemed to hate her so much lately. She was aware that the woman had been away for a number of days, at least giving them a little space given their previous run ins. "Lieutenant...is everything ok?"

Evelyn hesitated for a moment, "Yes and no. Physically I am fine, however, I don't believe we are." She replied. "I came here to apologize for my behaviour in sickbay. I'm sorry, and you definitely deserve more respect."

Blnking, Pola wasn't quite sure if she had heard that right. Staying where she was for a few moments more, she started to realise that the woman was being very sincere. "Ah...would you like to come in?"

"Thank you, but I don't wish to interrupt or delay you from any of your shoreleave plans." Evelyn smiled, and handed Pola a Data PADD, "I came here to give this to you."

Still not certain quite what was going on, Pola accepted the PADD on practical autopilot but still didn't look down at the information which is contained. "What has brought this on Evelyn?"

"Us. It seems when you and I are in a room, there seems to be miscommunication, and next thing I know, we're adversaries or some shit like that. However after my scare, I admit I was a bitch to you." Evelyn spoke honestly, "I have no issue with you, Pola. You're one hell of a doctor and that is why I gave you that. It is the complete database on El-Aurian physiology and anatomy, I'm very particular about my doctors, and I want you to be mine."

Pola looked at Evelyn, slightly startled by this revelation, she hadn't even been aware such a database in existence but it made sense, given the age of the surviving El-Aurian race, it shouldn't surprise her that one existed. "Um...would you like to come in for a drink?"

Eve smiled, "I wouldn't mind one if you have the time."

"Course...what can I get you?" Pola's sentences were a little short and stunted as she still tried to get around what precisely was happening here. She was finding it difficult to get her mind to cooperate at anything more then a sluggish pace.

"Just water." She replied, watching her. "You feeling alright Doctor?" Eve asked.

Acting like she hadn't heard anything, it took a moment for Pola to type in the command for two waters having reached her replicator. Once they materialised, she turned with a smile, "Water coming right up...I don't remember seeing you down at the beach the other night, everything ok?"

"I had work that I needed to finish, reports that I had to write up." She smiled, "It seems some of the crew is experiencing a strange illness; it seems Sienna wasn't without it's side effects..."

Stilling as she heard Evelyn say these words, a dark look came across Pola's face as she stopped in the spot. "Not you too...I've already had one person come forward with this nonsensical idea." Pushing herself forward, she held out the glass of water.

Eve smirked, "It isn't nonsensical. Whiplash, motion sickness, disorientation, all stem from the body in various forms of motion that is unfamiliar with. Species that use similar propulsion systems experienced some health issues."

"All symptoms which we expect to see given the situation in which we travelled over two weeks ago. Why does this suddenly lead to there been a suitation of a crew wide epidemic . whiplash, motion sickness and disorientation all require basic treatments, which have been given, and then they disappear." Still holding the glass of water, Pola was starting to get impatient holding it.

Eve took the glass of water, "Pola, you're a Doctor; you might have experienced a situation where something simple turns out to be more complex than one realize." Eve smirked as she lowered the glass, resting it on a table. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small vial. She held the vial over the glass, allowing a single drop of it's clear substance fall into the water. "Sometimes, things aren't as clear," she reached down to pick up her glass of water, "as they seem." she finished. The moment her fingers touched the glass, the water began to illuminate and suddenly the clear water became a violet liquid. "Cheers." Eve toasted as she drank from her glass.

Watching the colour of the watch change, Pola frowned as she shrugged her shoulders. Food dye or anything could have caused that. "Why do people continuously feel the need to question how I see things and how I am as a Doctor? When was the last time I walked up to others and told them how to do their jobs?"

Eve smirked, "It's not about your job." She replied and extended the hand with the small vile. "Would you care for something other than water?" She asked, "I'm drinking Aldebaran Tea, it's toxic for Humans, that is why the replicators doesn't have it on file, however it is one of my favorite drinks."

Watching the woman's glass, Pola thought it was pretty cleaver that Eve had chosen a substance which was seemingly poisonous for her to be able to taste to prove if the substance in the vile was true or not. "If whatever you have is capable of producing toxic substances, how do you control it?"

Evelyn blinked and looked between the vial and her tea. "Oh...I see what you mean... It's your thoughts. You think about what drink you want, and with a drop of this, the water transforms into the drink you willed. One of the hidden wonders of the Universe."

Pola looked at Evelyn with a suspicion as her hand subconsciously went to cover the top of her glass. "I've never heard of a substance which can do that. How do I know that it is not harmful to humans and me?"

"I gave Holliday a vial at the beginning of our last mission. He's still honkeydory right? All it does is transform the water to drink you want at that particular time."

placing her cup to the side, Pola held her hand out for the vial, as if just looking at it would give her all the answers to what precisely it was. "So...what's the guidelines for it's use?"

"It's elemental properties is very similar to table salt, however the nebula cloud where these originate from orbits a strong pulsar which changes the composition of the compound. All you have to do is add one drop to your water and touch your glass.'

Blinking as she listened to the explanation, Pola stared at the vial as she tried to comprehend that explanation. This was nothing more than space dust. What was the woman trying to do, play with her mind? "So one drop and it will become anything I want?"

"Yes. The Federation hasn't yet discovered this, it's something I've known about for quite some time. The Universe is filled with wonders and I hope the crew will encounter some on our travels."

Pola found herself wavering as she watched the vital, tilting it from side to side as she tried to figure out what it contained, as if the simple swirling motion would unlock all of it's secrets. "Ok..." Before she could give it a second though, she allowed a drop to fall into her water, watching as nothing changed. "..It didnt work."

"Touch your glass." Eve smirked.

With the glass already in her hand, Pola didn't understand. Raising it to her noise, she gave a sniff and suddenly realised slight bubbles seemed to be raising within the liquid. Uncertain for a moment more, she finally forced herself to take a sip, almost spitting it out as she tasted it's contents. "That's impossible!"

"So what did you really wanted to have instead of water?" Eve asked, arching her brow.

Still staring at the glass, Pola chewed her lower lip as she tried to figure it out. To her her mind had been blank, small things had niggled in the background which seemed to suddenly burst forward as tears entered her eyes. Placing the glass on a table, she quickly dashed away the tears before they could spill over. "I was thinking of comfort....a childhood drink I used to have."

"Sounds great..." Evelyn whispered taking a step closer to Pola, "obviously it brings back memories of home right?"

As a strangled laugh left her lips, Pola could feel her eyes starting to whell up once more. "That isn't neccessary a good thing you do realise. I guess perhaps it's a memory I'd pushed to the back of my head...An attempt to forget what was there before."

Evelyn nodded, "I know what that is like."

Looking down at the drink, Pola felt the tears slip free of her eyelids before her hand moved to capture it. "I miss her...it's times like this, so close to Earth that I truly realise how much I miss her."

Evelyn walked towards her and reached a hand and gently caressed Pola's shoulder and back. "No need to explain. Believe me, I can sympathize what you go through."

Staying silent for a few moments, Pola took some comfort in the words and touch from the other woman. Raising a hand again to wipe it all away, a thought ran through her mind as she realised that she wished Cyrus was here, somehow he managed to make the bad things all better. But then again...what would he say if eh saw her now. "I'm sorry Lieutenant...I shouldn't have lost control like that."

"Don't apologize, Pola. It's perfectly normal."

Nodding her head silently, Pola wrapped her arms around her middle as she closed her eyes, the feeling of still wanting Cyrus here running through her mind. She knew she couldn't ask him, he was up to his eyes in work preparing for their launch. "Evelyn...I'm sorry. Do you mind giving me some time on my own? I...I..."

"Of course." Evelyn rubbed her shoulder once more before pulling away and exiting her quarters.

Before The doors closed over, Pola raised her voice to be heard. "Evelyn...sincerely, thank you." As the doors closed over, she pinched the bridge of her nose as she tried to figure out what to do next.

Evelyn stood at the foot of Pola's door, smirking. "You'll be alright Doctor."
