Mission Summary

A long and arduous year in space for the crew of USS Galileo finally comes to an end following the profound discovery of the Le'kt civilization on Setisar VI. Still harboring many of USS Venture's survivors as well as many of their own wounded, the Nova Class starship completes her first contact mission and heads back to Starbase 185, Starfleet's primary operational facility in the northern Beta Quadrant. Passengers and crew are offloaded for medical treatment, and Galileo is ordered to report to Earth for her yearly maintenance refit and repairs.

The journey home is slow and tedious, but after finally arriving back at Earth, the crew finds themselves greeted by their fellow comrades and congratulated for a job well done. While the ship's command staff are debriefed by Starfleet Command, the rest of the crew is granted a lengthy 60-day shore leave while dockworkers meticulously work to upgrade and renovate the ship.

With plenty of time to visit friends, families and colleagues, the crew of Galileo enjoy themselves during the much-needed vacation and find themselves traveling to various places across the sector while they await their new deployment orders. Back at Starfleet HQ, Captain Saalm is given new orders and a change of command ensues, much to her surprise. When refits and renovations are complete at the end of the shore leave cycle, Galileo is redeployed with a new assignment from Starfleet's Planetary Sciences Division, one which will put her experienced crew's capabilities to the test in the coming months.
