Physical Appearance

Height 5'7"
Weight 146 lbs.
Hair Color deep brown, nearly black
Eye Color brown
Physical Description Despite rounded ears and warm-toned pale skin, Lyras can otherwise easily blend in as a Vulcan. He has prominently high eyebrows and high cheekbones, common of his Vulcan ancestry, though he refuses the common Vulcan hairstyle for that of a more tousled look.

As expected, Lyras and his neutral expression reaches near pokerface levels. Regardless of mood, he will seem extremely calm and has no trouble diplomatically deflecting most provocations with the tiniest of eyebrow raises. This isn't to say he's expressionless, but is instead prone to more subtle forms of facial expression than most humans.

As expected, Lyras wears his uniform whenever he's working. He isn't afraid to adapt to cultures, however, and will jovially wear anything to make ambassadors or dignitaries feel comfortable, so long as it's within his comfort range.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Lyras is a particularly quirky individual, an enigma at best. Trained as an ambassador, Lyras has an excellent ability to maintain an extremely calm exterior, even if negotiations are running a bit sour. He is almost eerily calm, as he can take the screaming, death-threat flinging rage of a Klingon in his face and look as if nothing has gone wrong.
Strengths + Diplomatic relations
+ Anthropological endeavors
+ Cultural Adaptation
+ Heightened hearing [Vulcan-linked]
+ Capable of limited mind-melds
Weaknesses - Most hand-to-hand combat scenarios throw him off.
- He dislikes most flight control types, at least those that like mouthing off to him, and will hold a prejudice over most of them.
- Any high frequency noises set him off, due to heightened hearing.
- He is highly sensitive to laughing gas and can easily be intoxicated from chocolate.
- His mixed heritage also gives him susceptibility to diseases that threaten both races.
Ambitions He means to redeem himself in the eyes of certain superiors, though from the desire to prove his validity or to earn their acceptance is another matter entirely.
Hobbies & Interests He has a continued interest in his own Japanese heritage, and has picked up the koto as a musical hobby.
Vernacular He strays from contractions and raising his voice, though does have a higher toned voice than one would expect out of him. Almost light and airy.
Orientation Bisexual
Language(s) Spoken Multiple, though most notably Vulcan, Federation, Klingon, and Cardassian

Personal History Lyras had a rather unceremonious birth, as his father was merely attempting to help his mother fulfill her pon farr. Due to the connection they had to make in order to complete the ritual, they soon married, and Lyras was the first child to be born on the USS Kaneda.

He grew up on the vessel in a relatively solitary lifestyle, as being the only child on board seriously dampened how many friends he ended up with. At the age of eight, his mother decided to retire from Starfleet to focus on caring for the young child. She returned to the Vulcan homeworld with her child, and Lyras was raised amongst the Vulcan youth for a time.

As one would expect, the boy protested such a strict rules structure, even with his extremely 'wrinkly' great aunts and uncles pushing him to learn their ways. Alas, the boy's education on Vulcan would not stick, as his extremely mixed heritage made him a prime target of bullies and overly critical instructors. His mother pulled him from the traditional forms of Vulcan education, and, with a promise to his great-aunt T'Pri to at least attempt to pick up his Vulcan studies, the pair retreated to Earth.

It was there that they were reunited with the boy's father, and Lyras was immersed in an entirely different culture altogether. Taking to public school, he found himself more welcome amongst those that were closer in heritage, and he was delighted to learn that, even when he admitted to being partially Vulcan, no one seemed to mind at all. Any prejudice against him was small, and he lived a happy childhood.
Starfleet History At the age of 17, threw himself at basic training, much to the dismay of his Vulcan relatives, but much to the delight of his parents, choosing a scientist's route over the others. Predictably, at the age of 19, he graduated and found himself assigned as a language specialist to the USS Yojimbo. It was a short-lived assignment, as the ship's commander had a prejudice against hybrids. The conflict made him undeniably uncomfortable, and he requested a reassignment.

His second vessel, the USS Altitude saw him with a much larger crew and a much more egotistical captain. It took him three years before he decided to request another reassignment, this time to a smaller vessel. The Utanu was happy to take him, as their language specialist had retired to 'greener pastures.' The Nova class vessel held much promise for the man, as their uncanny captain was nothing but welcome to most of his ideas.

At the break of the Dominion War, however, the Utanu's focus switched from discovering new cultures and deciphering languages to making it out of certain territories in one piece. Lyras' career path changed, and he was named unofficial Diplomatic Officer until the end of the war. He managed to do so well at his job that Captain Mckinsey made it his full position, allowing him to guide the next 'language specialist' in mind.

He served for nearly ten years on the Utanu, before another opportunity cropped up, and off to the Galileo he went.
